I've upgraded to the current TT1 V2 Navcore, and also the European 710 maps.

- The upgrade of the maps seemed to move all my POIs and other settings, but not my favourites. Is there a file I can move from the old to the new map folder to get my favourites back?

- Is there a template for the TomTom.mnu file for controlling the menu icon positions? I used to do this but now there are new menu items...

1. That's the second time that one has cropped up in 24 hours (Transfering Favourites and Registering new 720 Wink )

MapSettings.cfg (in the map folder) has your favourites, Home Location, recent destinations etc.
Try copying that, it should work in most cases, but I think I had an issue when I copied it from a machine without TTS voices to a new one WITH them. If it doesn't work for you, the manual way of copying them to a new POI category and copying that across instead.

2. Unfortunately, TT have gone off on a tangent and all the new menu items are NOT inserted in the menu in the same way and there are NO menu commands for them, so if you have a custom menu done with the SDK and an .mnu file you WON'T get any of the new icons.

There have been a couple of discussions about this already on the forums, where someone which the right programming knowledge actually unpicked it all and said this was definitely the case (rather than just not having found the right syntax yet).

However, It seems that there is another way of adding menu items in v7 without losing the "Help me" and other new items. This has been used by satnav voices, as you will see if you install their two games, but that's where MY knowledge and understanding of how its done ends abruptly!

Thanks. Really, the favs should be saved as a poi file anyway of course. More tangents in TomTom. Oh well. Thanks for your help (and moving that file didn't work for me by the way).

It also seems (before and after I moved that file) that the TT doesn't want to start up after turning it off IF I turned it off with the USB cable in it (even after 'safely removing it' from the PC). Have to pull the SD card to get it going. Seems ok other than that, and starts ok so long as the USB cable wasn't being used. Anyone else seen this?
