I wonder if anyone can tell me where I may be able to download (or purchase) the softwear for my Navman F series to cover the west coast of the USA. Any help would be very much appreciated. |

Just replying to my own message, I see that I can purchase this card for the princely sum of £101 from the Navman store!!! This is more expensive that the car I am hiring!
Surely there must be a more cost effective way of obtaining this info?
Any ideas? |

If you only need new maps for short period of time, maybe check with your car rental company if they can supply you with the navigation unit? Most car rental companies these days either provide GPS unit for free or for a small charge. |

This has been discussed before, search other posts for some answers. One suggestion is to buy a second hand navigator off ebay and sell it at the end of the trip - often cheaper (but more work) than renting from the car hire place, it al depends how long "a short time" is. |

Im hiring the car for 8 days and it costs $13 a day, so about £60 for the hire seems damned expensive? |

The fries always are...
For $100 you could probably buy a system of ebay. An other option (I read a few days ago that Walmart are pulling out of GPS's because of this), is buy one, then take it back after 13 days for a full refund, as you are entitled to in the good-ol US... By doing that to increase the number of B list items, so theres more of them around for the rest of us to pick up cheaply, thereby doing the user community a service.
Personally this is not something I would do, I haven't got quite that much audacity, but I am happy to buy cheap B stock |
