I have a sneaky feeling you are confusing some of us who want the 710 map of Western Europe for the GO720. I'm guessing you've got the regional map for the GO520 or even the ONE, so your success won't help us. _________________ Dennis
Hi
I found this forum while searching the net for a solution to upgrade my tomtom maps. I have my tomtom XL Regional for five days and it came with iberia map V675.1409, when i try to use the last map guarantee it says that i already have the last map just like u guys report too.
So i´ve opened a support call in tomtom website and uploaded my proof of purchase and explained the situation... Let´s hope they fix this it´s not very good for a company to give customers this first impression

Sorry
But it may help anyone having the same issue with the One XL

mmmhhhh this thread is starting to sound very very similar to the faulty TMC issues from last year, lets hope they solve the problems quickly.
Lets look on the bright side of things, TomTom are ALWAYS consistent, they release poor, untested products that the customer has to fight and prove that there's a problem.
One final point, TomTom probably have little interest or resource assigned to what is now the current/old x20 range of products and problems. Behind closed doors, TomTom will be busy developing/producing next years CeBit releases.

Dennis, I’ve looked as hard as I can but because so few people include the device they’re using in their sig it’s difficult to pick out those using the 720. The only one I’ve found is Iyad, who said HERE that he had successfully downloaded and installed v710 maps to his 720 via the latest map guarantee, but couldn’t access the maps.
When I was in the same situation I had the following reply from TomTom:
Dear ,
May we apologise for the delay in responding to your query.
Please be aware that you will require a newer application version to use 7.10 maps. We expect that this version will be made available later this week.
We appreciate your patience with this matter.
With Best Regards
The TomTom Customer Support Team
But by the time I got that reply I had downloaded the new App 7.210 and 7.10 maps had become selectable in 'Switch map'. But note that TT weren’t telling me that the new maps weren’t available for the 720!
I wonder if the new maps were available for the 720, but have been withdrawn for some reason, and I was lucky and got in early, before the withdrawal. Maybe the problems that we all had with downloading, installing and accessing them caused so many complaints that they’ve stopped offering them until they’ve sorted it out.
Keep on trying. I hope your persistence pays off! _________________ Anita

Let also add something very strange here my 720 was purchased months ago, first week of launching them, ie months passed the 30 days gurantee period.

I have just this minute gone to the TT website and gone as far as ready to enter my credit card details to buy a download of the 7.10 map of Western Europe for the GO720. That seems pretty clear to me - it's not been withdrawn from those who are prepared to pay for it. Virtually every time I sit at my computer (and repeated often during sessions) I login with both 720s and try clicking the Latest Map Guarantee just in case it's been sorted out. _________________ Dennis

I wasn't sure that I was eligible for the free maps, as my 720 arrived on 28 Sept, but I can't remember how soon I installed and used Home, nor the release date of the new maps.
Could TomTom have inadvertently allowed units more than 30 days old to download the maps instead of newer ones? As I remember from my (long ago) programming days it's quite easy to use 'greater than' instead of 'less than' in the conditions.
If so I hope they won't read this and uninstall the files through Home! _________________ Anita

I assume you've added this information to your 'question' with TomTom. (Such a polite term they use!)

That's a problem I never had. As soon as the map guarantee was mentioned in the forum I checked in Home and found I was entitled to them, so started trying to download them straight away.
I feel guilty that, not only did I get the 720 free, but I've also successfully downloaded and installed the maps free, while so many of you who are definitely entitled to them haven't. _________________ Anita

Do not feel quilty, be happy to be to only one who has downloaded and installed the maps free. We other continue to fight.
I checked the website:
- Which map would you like? Western Europe (GO 720)
- Your selection: Map of Western Europe v7.10 1785 MB EUR 49.95
The newer maps exists to buy, but...

Thanks, Hartsa. You've cheered me up!
Good luck to the rest of you. I'll continue to follow your fight, and back you up where I can! _________________ Anita

At the grand old age of 68, there's only 'less than' now!!
Anyway, I sent them the link to their GO720 "Buy your Western Europe Map v7.10 here for GBP 39.95" page TWICE during the course of the 'Question'. My latest comment is to ask
Quote:
Does this mean that the Western Europe v7.10 maps for GO720s which have been available to purchase from your website for two weeks are for different GO720s from mine?
Does waiting 14 business days mean that any new map will not be available to me under the Latest Map Guarantee?
Worryingly, I have still not received a Customer Satisfaction Survey email this month. I fear they are missing out on my feedback. _________________ Dennis
