|
|
Just in from TT customer support:
Quote: | Customer's POI limit use to be limited to only 100 until now. Each POI that you will subscribe to in TomTom Home - Mapshare preferences will use up one of these 100 POI's. If you subscribe to all POI's, you will only have a few left for your own use. (personal creation of POI's)
The POI limit has now been extended to 300 in order to all preloaded POI's, mapshare, and customer POI's to be loaded onto your device. You will need to upgrade to application version 7.210 when it is launched. This version is schedule to go live within the next two weeks. Please ensure that you only subscribe to POI's that are important to you and not all as this will ensure more space for your important POI categories. |

I've not been offered it for my 720, and there's no updates available to me on the TomTom downloads page. _________________ Anita

I should have said... that message from TomTom wasn't on their website, but was an eventual reply to a question I put to Customer Service.
Here's the full story:

Two more bugs to report:
1. Your support pages are still saying that you can create 100 user POI categories. Now you are using .ov2 files for downloaded Mapshare corrections to the built-in POIs, we are being restricted to around 48-50. This is terrible, and you really need to change it. |

Dear Mr P
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.
Please revert to the user manual as these questions will be answered in the manual.
http://www.tomtom.com/support/support.php?ID=3&Language=4
In the manual it states that you are only allowed 48 favourites and it sounds like your first question relates to you storing your POI's as favourites. Please ensure that you are creating sub-POI categories and operating out of them.
I matters continue to be a challenge for you with the device warning when near we can book it in for repair.
With Best Regards

1. No I am not storing POIs as Favourites. The number of POI categories one can store has always been restricted (to 100 in v6 and v7 software) but your use of the .ov2 file format for mapshare corrections to your own POIs is restricting my space to less than 50. This needs reporting to your software designers please.
2.There is not a problem with my unit. The problem is being experienced by others too, so would appear to be a software bug. |

Dear Mr P
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.
The amount of allowed POI's on your device is determinded the amount of available memory on your device. Your TomTom 720 is programmed to store a max of 100 POI's at the present moment.

Thank you for you reply. Unfortunately it seems you have not read my first post, where I say that *I know* the software normally limits me to 100 user-POI categories.
Why I wrote is because the way you have implemented Mapshare means that is no longer true!
Every Mapshare update for the built-in POIs reduces the number of available user categories by one. With all Mapshare options enabled, this reduces the user-categories to less than 50.
Whoever developed this needs to be made aware of his huge mistake and you either need to sort it out OR change your documentation and advertising. |

Took a while but we got there in the end!!
Have to admit, it doesn't actually say if this is just on the x20 models, or will be done for all of them....

Thanks for that!
Moving on to the other replies... AFAIK 7.210 (build 8555/07/1025) is only for the Go520/720, so far; the other models are on v7.1xx (except the Go Classic and 300 which don't have an official v7 release at all yet). Hopefully their last answer which said it would soon be available actually meant that it would soon be available for other models as I already had it!
Home offered me v7.210 on 6th Nov 2007, I don't understand why it hasn't offered it to you Anita.... Are you on Home 2.1 yet? |

It would seem senility has set in. I checked the version before my last post, and I'm sure it said v7.200, but I've just checked again and it says v7.210!
Humble apologies. I must be catching DennisN up quicker than I thought!
But in my defence, as you said ‘Just in from TT Customer Support’ I thought you were quoting a new message, and as they said the new version was scheduled to go live within the next two weeks I assumed it wasn’t available when you started this topic yesterday, so was waiting for Home to offer it.
No, that won’t do – I really should be able to think up a better excuse than that! _________________ Anita

I've just discovered what happened. If I check the version via 'Operate my GO' in Home it shows App 7.200, but if I check on the device it shows App 7.210!
I must remember to use the device and not Home in future. _________________ Anita

showmethewaytogohome...
Certainly not stupid. But possibly confused?
HOME 2.1 is available as a download to anyone. Nothing to do with what model you have.
You can get it from the link at the end of this TomTom support page
Software for the One XL is at v7.131 (build 8483) - released 18th Oct 2007 if my info is still upto date. Home 2.1 SHOULD offer it to you when you connect up and go to "update my TomTom". |

There's no such thing as Home "7 point anything" (which did get mentioned in another thread).
'Home' exists in (old) 1.5xx and 1.6xx and (new) 2.0xx and 2.1xx flavours
TomTom software exists in v6.xxx and v7.xxx flavours depending on whether you have updated or not and what versions have been released for which model.
I try to keep an up to date list of software and Home versions on another site HERE if you're interested. |
