The 720 is £244 at Amazon and The Link, so looks the retailers have lost all confidence in them.
I paid £329 for my last one. The first was £300 but it went back as it did not work on handsfree. |

ahh im not selling yet - im very happy with it. i dont use the bluetooth stuff much.
I paid £214 + £3 postage from halfords online for a 520, and with 4% cashback on my credit card, and 4% back from QUIDCO, I'll have paid around £200. Which I thought was OK. |

So for another £139 you get USA Maps?? a remote, carry case, and dodgy TMC traffic receiver.
Not to mention all the faults that the 520/720 still have.
I will keep my 720 thanks. |

I NEVER remove the manual shrink wrap - I'm talking about the "online" manual. But an un-unwrapped TomTom manual would add as little value to one on e-bay as spitting into the wind as far as I'm concerned!! _________________ Dennis

Out this morning testing bluetooth on the move.
Person I called heard the odd word, lots of buzzing and silence.
Conversation not possible
Also it seems my warning sounds have changed
Over the speed limit - police car siren
Approach speed camera - single dong
BTW I was not breaking speed limit, on A22 I was in a 60 zone but the latest maps still think it's 40 and then 60 when it is 40

Don't forget it also has the gyro's in it to keep track of your location when GPS reception is poor.
I'm sure it will work really well

I also found out this annoying behavior today on my 720, where it had reset all my sounds and Cameras.
Spent an age putting them all back to the way I like.
Does anyone know if there is a file on the TomTom that stores the POI and sound preferences, that can be copied & backed up, so if this problem happens again, all that is needed is to copy the file over to the TomTomm _________________ Mick

Believe it or not, this is how I now always deal with that problem (which happens to me fairly regularly) and it recovers!! It happened today after last night's update to App v7.210 and reset fixed it.
The file is MapSettings.cfg if you want it - I assume you do regular backups using Windows Explorer, so you've got several copies in the map folder. _________________ Dennis

Thanks for the info, I will try it next time it happens, which probably wont be far off.
Yes, I back up regularly, and always before updating, as I hope never to experience some of the dreaded tales of woe found in the forum _________________ Mick

I just updated my Go720. I notice that you still can't navigate to a carpark if selecting a destination that isn't actually ON a road... Damn thing doesn't even attempt to navigate to the nearest road on the map. It just refuses to try.
Version 6.xxx had no such problem. Shame.
Have yet to test the phone functionality via bluetooth. But then Nokia's latest update for the N95 pretty much broke that anyway...
