However, the order (via TomTom.com / My orders) is still showing as "INPROCESS" for 1 hour so far.
I hope it works!! |
I have just had the same experience using TomTom Home 2.1.2.121. Accepted the payment no problem. You just don't get what you paid for. My order is now "COMPLETED, Paid", the second part of which is correct. No map, or email telling me how to download, or response to my support email. Why not just give £40 to someone who looks deserving.

This is cute. The TT website says you have to use your map guarantee via TT Home. So I tried. It says no new map is needed, yet my map is 705.1480 and the new map they will SELL me is 710.
My GO720 (number 5) has a receipt dated 17th October 2007 - I cannot possibly have started the clock running until that date, so my clock is only a MAXIMUM of 15 days old. I just downloaded and installed Home 2.1.2.121. Anybody know what's going on?
I'll give the TT questions a go I think. _________________ Dennis

According to my 720 I have on board:
App: 7.020: OS: 2622
GPS: v1.21, Boot: 5.4104
Map: 'Western_Europe' v705.1480
|
I have the same map as you, also on a TTG720, and when I tried the "Latest Map Guarantee" it told me that I already had the latest map for my device and did not need to upgrade! |

Many of us 720 owners have the same issue. _________________ GO 620, Tomtom Android EU,

Ok, i copied over "Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB-7.meta.dct" to the installed directory, and replaced the file that was there.
But as before, in home where you go to purchase maps, it states its installed, but when you go to map select only Canary islands is available.
I have also tried adding .dct to the .meta file but then the map doesn't even show up in the purchase map section.
I'm going to re-download the map and try again. |

Same here Zebs I just bought and downloaded v6.75 7 days ago and it took me 3 days to get the download due to the problem with TT Home.
Needless to say I am not happy so I've asked TT if I can get v7.10 for free since its just 7 days since my purchase.
Will just wait and see what the say, ironically I asked when v7.10 14 days ago and wasn't given a release date. |

Map Shop: £40
Punter: Here you are, £40 cash
Map Shop: Thanks. Now get lost
Punter: Eh ? I paid my £40
Map Shop: You can have it slowly. How about 1% of Europe per hour ? Bits map be missing. It may not be an entire map. What do you expect for your £40 ? A map ? |

However, to do so may require you to delete the existing map from the card. This is where backup becomes more than advisable, it's absolutely essential. Whether you are going to get the map or not, do a backup right now using Windows Explorer rather than Tom Tom Home. Then make another separate backup before you go ahead with obtaining the new map. If/when you get the new map, you'll be able to happily delete the "old" map to make room for the new, knowing that if it all goes pear-shaped you can get back to where you were. If/when you get a new map up and running, promptly make another backup of the new setup.
A larger card is never a poor thing though AND a second card copied from the original is VERY good - use it instead of the original so that you've always got a working one to fall back on. _________________ Dennis
