There are 2 versions of the Western Europe map.
1 with +900mb(for the One) and 1 with 1700mb(for the Go).
I have a One v2 and i want to get the "complete"map version(1700mb)
So i need to chosse my device as if it was a Go.
Doubt:if i do that, will the map be activated on my One,or will be there some kind of info that it was bought for a Go,and will not work in a One??
I ask this because, there´s a new protection system(anti piracy),wich involves "DCT´s",and probably other protection meassures.
If someone manages to get the 1700mb version in a One v2,XL...please share the info. |

Are you sure the large size difference isn't due to the text to speech data for the models that can use it, rather than any significant differences in the mapping itself? |

I asked TomTom about this, because I have a One v2 and wanted to ensure that I had a full, not a pared down, version of the new Europe map. They replied:
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.
The v. 710 map coverage is identical in terms of detail. Please select your correct model when purchasing a new map to ensure that your map download will be properly encrypted for use on your actual device.
It rather looks as if the new security features they have introduced with the v7 maps are device-specific

Humm!!
Does the 510 has TTS?(WE with 1700mb is the recomended)
If yes, than maybe the diference in size may be because of the TTS files(i doubt).
If not, there will be a lot of detail missing in the One version(+700mb).
With the 6.75 map version of Western Europe(900mb),there were a lot of details missing(roads included),whem put side by side with Any regional map or the bigger Western and Central Europe.
I decided to take the risk and bought the "big" Western Europe.
I´ll report back when i get my One v2 from the service center this week. |
