Yes, I was being thick! I read it that the link you had to click on was in Home, not on the webpage!
All downloaded, and I no longer have to cross the channel in an emergency to reach the nearest 'Help me!' destinations. Thanks to everyone who replied. _________________ Anita

I found if you click the downloads twice they download straight away, but maybe it's a bit busier now as you say. |

Well at least its proven some things:-
1. TT know there's a problem with the POI's. The just need to do all rest now.
And
2. TT ACTUALLY READ THIS FORUM ! - WOW!! and so they should..
Now TT, just sort out the "Warn near pois" problems for the speed cams and you laughing... _________________ TVR

Ahh, I can see this is going to turn into a right mess....
We now have the original POI files, the add-on files AND the Mapshare corrections, all going at once.
I thought I'd check the nearest Police Station to where I work in Wandsworth (which I had added myself via Mapshare).
I now have FOUR Police stations nearby!
Up first is the one I added (in the right place), then there are two more entries for the same station (same phone number) both mis-positioned in exactly the same place a few hundred yards away (but with different names), and the forth, just round the corner, is totally fictitious.
Putney Police Station a mile or two away is also confusingly called "Wandsworth" (and that is wrongly positioned by one street too).
Anyone like to tell me which ones I should 'delete' and which one I should 'edit'? (because presumably other people will be doing it too!).
Someone on another forum also pointed out that if you use the new Doctors' file from "Help me..." you've got a 50% chance of being sent to a Herbalist or false leg maker!
Finally, I now have a new dentist just around the corner called "Competitive mortgages".... could come in handy I suppose! |

Yes, that would be me. But I did say…”this would be the ultimate guide to creative entertainment”
Seriously though, I expect there will be the odd numbskull around who will want to move the local police station just for laughs and believe it’s a clever wheeze, there’s always one, but by and large I would imagine that the vast majority of mapshare users would want to build on it sensibly and make it a utility well worth having. |

The plot thickens....
Using my example of the four entries for the same police station above:
If I turn off "use my own corrections" the one that is in the right place disappears, so that is only coming from my local PAxxx.ov2 file.
Therefore I decided to delete that one andmove one of the TT supplied ones to the right place, then delete the others.
All went well until I went to delete the last TT one that was in the wrong place. Got the message "Selected item is not a map provider POI".
Huh? Why not? I'd just deleted two already, and this one is definitely in the same added file.
So I tried another "new" POI this time a Dentist called "Putney School" (!?!?). This one I COULD delete via Mapshare corrections.
My brain hurts.... |

I'm keeping the ones I have added locally then working through the others correcting the locations as required, deleting any that are in the wrong category or don't exist at all. Hopefully over time it will gradually become accurate enough to be completely useful.
At least TomTom are reading and taking some notice and showing some effort in trying to make corrections. _________________ Graham.

Perhaps Darren could merge them together some how into just one thread. _________________ Graham.

? I think Andy was referring to the physical mess problem of all these corrections and POIs etc on the device, not an issue with the forum threads _________________ Darren Griffin |

I was... but it's true we've deviated away from the original topic rather.
Any chance you could do a little split to a new one? |

More haste less speed but still think it might be an idea to lump all the various threads into one regarding the MapShare, corrections and POI problems. _________________ Graham.

A solution to this issue exists, see the TomTom FAQ here.
The FAQ contains POI’s that are installable through TomTom HOME 2.1. This should help for the POI’s that appear to be missing from the Help Me! Menu for the GO 720’s and TomTom ONE 3rd Editions. |
Is there a similar fix for TomTom One 1st edition?
I recently upgraded to 7.1.3.1 which now has the 'Help Me!' option; however, there is no information at all in the First Aid and Other guides. Also, Police Stations, Doctors, Pharmacies, dentists and Vets are greyed out in all menues.
I tried the fix in Darrens link, just in case, but when Home tries to install the items I get rather stupid error mesages like "Cannot install this item: Dentists in the United Kingdom: This file is included with the item but should not be there: gbr_dentists.inf"
I've looked on TomToms site, but can't find anything
If TomTom are going to have these features, and force them on us without notification in an upgrade, then it seems a little 'silly' (I'm being kind to TomTom here) for them not to be available. |

Andy_P2002,
I am seeing 7 Police stations for Wandsworth when I select navigate to POI near city centre. Is that what you have?
I wanted to check to see if I have received any of your corrections.
Listed Below:-
Wandsworth High Street
Wandsworth A3
Wandsworth Northfields
Wandsworth A3209
Wandsworth Fawcett Close
Wandsworth A3220
Wandsworth Danebury Avenue
Does Wandsworth have enough Police stations do you think? |
