Whilst on the subject of ATM security. Please be on guard when you use a machine, particularly if it is not one you use regularly. Up and down the country various groups have been going to some very advanced techniques to get your cash.
They have created a whole false front, which sticks in place over the front of the original machine. It has the correct card logos and looks 100% genuine, but it is fitted with a card reader and a pinhole camera. The device does not stop the machine working as usual, so the user will have no idea that their card details have been taken.
The card is inserted as normal, the card reader takes the details from the magnetic strip, whilst the pin hole camera records the pin number entered. This info is later downloaded to a computer and false cards are made up, allowing the holder to appear genuine at any cash machine whilst they bleed your account dry.
To the banks, it appears YOU have used YOUR card to take the cash.
ALWAYS have a feel about the machine before you use it to make sure there are no attachments and ALWAYS cover your input hand to shield your pin number. If the machine appears in any way altered, phone the Police and remain at the machine until they arrive to prevent anyone else being scammed. It is most likely that one of the scammers is actually watching you, so be careful as they will not want to lose their equipment (which can be removed in seconds).
