The satellite in our logo was an artists interpretation and not an actual representation of a real satellite vehicle.
We're not wedded to it, the current vehicles are:
The IIA
and the IIR (the latest version)

Having survived a number of corporate image, (Logo!) , changes when I was working, I found them to be mostly an expensive "waste of money".
I think that the current PocketGPSWorld.com logo is easily recognisable as a unique trademark, and that I, and many other site users associate it with value for money, reliability and honesty.
I suggest you put the proposed "prize money" to better use by buying the hard working staff of PocketGPSWorld a round of drinks or two at your annual Christmas Party. |
Whilst I have a little sympathy with this, I would have thought that the cost implications of PGPSW changing their image/logo wouldn't be too high - it's not like Tesco or Boots where everything from shop signs to loyalty cards have to be updated - and they're taking steps to keep the costs down by running this competition instead of employing a commercial outfit (for now, at least).
That said, I would be interested to hear the reasoning behind the decision to change - is this seen as the beginning of something new or are the team just looking for a new look? _________________ Andy

"Look at all this tumble weed" he said as he remorselessly bumped the old thread on. "Surely someone else will notice it's here?" he mumbled as he moved on, laughing histerically as he went.

As there is little creativity going on I thought I will put my two bits penny worth in.

The Forum Button -
Will send all files laters (with little tweaks ).

We are just toying with the possibility of a new look to 'freshen' the feel of the site for regular users and thought it'd make for an enjoyable community project. Truth be told, I think most of us are quite fond of our existing logo
Hopefully, we will announce the winner within the next 24 hours _________________ Robert Brady |

If I lose, it was all Dennis' fault!
I was put off by his knees and all that! Ere, why don't you stop moaning about that TT720, and just buy a Navman! _________________ Dom

From the few ideas that were shown on here, it looks like there should have been some good submissions. _________________ Andy

It might be worth re-iterating that the judges' decision is final so that you don't get the equivalent of the "I submitted a camera and want my free subscription NOW" syndrome.
I'd also like to see any submissions from PGPSW team members which were excluded from the main competition.
If there was more than one submission from PGPSW team members, perhaps you could open the vote to the membership (maybe for a week) and have a "peoples' choice" so that those members of the team don't feel totally left out of the competition spirit. _________________ Andy

BAD MOVE!!!
You'll get another 16 page thread about why didn't I win the competition and get a TT GO 720? _________________ Dennis

GET A NAVMAN!
You're only embarrased as we'll all get to see your entry with the knobbly knees. Oh! How we will all laugh!
A 16 page slightly off topic thread won't be any thing unusual. _________________ Dom
