pity there is not a picture of a sign in the wrong position to give a pictorial indication of the wrong and right positions, at the moment i wouldn't be able to tell if they were correct or not |

I read the article to say that repeater signs were also missing.
One problem that I also see on a regular basis is vegetation being allowed to grow and 'swallow up' speed limit and other road signs. I don't mean to sound old here, but I'm sure this never used to be such a problem and vegetation was kept trimmed appropriately.
If you're passing from a higher speed limit to a lower speed limit, but the sign is covered by vegetation and not clearly visible, does the lower speed limit still stand? After all, there isn't clear notification that the speed limit has changed _________________ Andy

They said they knew, but they were not allowed to cut it back at that time of year by the hedge protection or whatever people in the council!! Later on (after the gardening season??) they would be able to trim it. _________________ Dennis

...then you would have thought that they would trim it back far enough so that the following year's growth wouldn't affect the sign(s) _________________ Andy

The problem is with the slip road which allows traffic to joins the Eastern Road which is 40mph, but also continues to run parallel to it. The slip road does not have any displayed speed limit signs until it finally merges with the
Western Way after the market roundabout to the Gosport road. _________________ Graham.

I think you'll find it's after the nesting season, Dennis, otherwise they might destroy nests or disturb breeding birds, and that's aginst the law. _________________ Anita

I must have managed it, was a hand held laser, now been quashed and the fine refunded. Clean licence again. _________________ Graham.

That is also part of the problem between the two camera locations East and West there is also 3 30mph sections which are not clear or marked correctly. _________________ Graham.

Even if you know the area, it's difficult to keep track of the 40 - 30 - 40 - 30 etc
This is then exacerbated by the fact that much of this stretch is dual carriageway.
I prefer using M27 J9-11/12, which is often quicker because you miss the traffic lights, roundabouts and lower speed limits _________________ Andy

No, although the car can do almost 3 times that, I was done for doing 38 in what they said was a 30 zone but there was no 30 sign indicating it the last sign passed was a 40mph. _________________ Graham.

So if I'm driving through Park Gate and see a Ferrari then is that you?
Hampshire CC have had thier wrists well and truly slapped over signage now so hopefully they will sort it out.
The dreaded scamera van has been persecuting the good people of Waltham Chase lately. I was taken for £60 for doing 39 early on a SUNDAY MORNING. _________________ Paul
