I am looking for a gps data logger that uses removable flash media such as an SD or CompactFlash card or a usb thumbdrive for storage.
The reason I want to find one is that I would like to use large capacity cards (2+ GB) to store months and months (or years?) of travel.
I haven't found any gps data loggers except the GeoChron by SparkFun that do this. Unfortunately the GeoChron is limited to 512 MB cards. |

I use a NaviGPS BGT-11 Logger/GPS.
This takes upto 2Gb cards - but they need to be the lower voltage cards (?2.85v) the 3.3V cards don't work reliably. They do state this in their literature.
I got mine from StorageDepot
It's a small unit with an LCD read-out giving you access to info and controls. There are BT and non-BT versions
You can use it as a GPS in it's own right (i.e. set waypoints, routes etc) and/or as a logger.
It isn't fully waterproof in my opinion - but you can get a neoprene carrier for it which allows you to strap it to your arm when walking. You can also get a handlebar mount for your bike.
It has an internal LiIon battery which gives more than enough power for a full days walking. _________________ Phil |

How about ZyCast's SG-289, reviewed by me here.
Some users have had issues with the BT, see the linked thread for details but mine has performed perfectly. The BT issues matter not if you intend using it solely as a datalogger. _________________ Darren Griffin |
