I'm trying to choose a basic GPS for my mother, but have been confused by the choices.
It seems I can buy a TTG300 for £140, or a TTONE V3 for £135....given the minor difference in price, which is better?

The Go300 is an oldie, but a goodie.
It is still the best-sounding model by far. If your mother is getting on a bit and needs a model that speaks to her loudly and clearly, you can't beat the 300. All the other models sound tinny and slightly distorted in comparison.
However the One models are much slimmer and easier to carry in a pocket or bag.
The ONE "3rd edition" (not actually the v3 - it's very confusing) has some worrying limitations that are only just being discovered. I would advise against it, but the One "second edition" (one with internal flash memory AND an external SD card slot) is worth looking at.
The basic functions are the same on both. The maps will probably be slightly newer on the One, but you probably won't notice the difference. Try to ensure they are "version 6 maps" on both, as the 300 was originally supplied with v5. |

Go for the One XL £149.99 its got bluetooth, rds tmc and a nicer screen http://www.amazon.co.uk/TomTom-Britain-Mapping-Safety-Cameras/dp/B000TUZYOS?ie=UTF8 then sell the tomtom cameras on ebay and get the pocketgps ones.
You can get the One V3 for £132 from the link delivered with next day delivery or the V2 for £130 delivered.
I'd steer clear of the 300 it was good in its day but was released well over 2 years ago, maps are out of date & its bulky with poorer GPS reception stick with the newer models. Hope this helps Paul |
