Good evening,
Having purchased a shiny new 2210 and TTN3, loaded the software and applied the 3.01 patch, all seems well after bonding with the TT Bluetooth GPS Rx. An Ipaq backup here has worked and I can restore from the backup perfectly - now to the grief. The following will not load, seeming to require a soft reset following installation of each piece of S/W, which fails - need to do a hard reset to get out.
CheckPoint 3
Sprite Backup
Pocket Mechanic
Battery Pack 2004
Any help would be gratefully received.
Regards,
M. |

how does the soft reset fail? Does it hang at the opening screen?
What happens if you install all these programs after a hard reset (without installing TT3 first)? _________________ Lutz

Lutz,
Thanks for the response. The soft reset fails to complete, just hangs on the reset screen, but appears to be 100 (ish) percent complete.
The other apps all install OK without TTN3 and appear operative. The device will soft reset without hanging, although I seem unable to get Sprite to backup to PC and, maybe just my imagination, sometimes Batterypack 2004 seems to stop downloading data, weather - news - stockmarket report etc. and I appear to get a "freeze" which needs a soft reset to recover. Latest 1.1 ROM image applied, no change. My 3630 and 3970 running 2002 seem to be more resilient, but not (obviously) tried TTN 3 on either of them - yet.
Regards,
Maurice. |

you may want to install the TomTom 3.01 update (without installing 3.00 first). Just a guess but maybe they fixed it then.
Also (if that fails), try not to install the GPS driver, but use 2.06. Maybe the hang is due to the 3.00 GPS driver blocking the BT stack. _________________ Lutz

The instructions for 3.01 require 3.00 to be installed first. I have 2210 (ROM 1.1) TTN3.01 and have no problems so far (apart from SD card issues). I haven't tried installing any programs after TTN3, so it's possible that the same thing might happen. You might try a different SD card, or reformat the one you have, since a hard reset will not wipe the card and there might be duff data left on it.

Thanks,
Correct re 3 before 3.01 and I have ruled out the SD card by replacing it with a 512K, 10X speed CF card, no change. Also formatted etc to ensure no duff stuff or bad card.
Ah well, looks like it's back to TTN2 for now and watch out for other patches as they appear. Either that or run TTN3 with nothing else loaded, can't really consider that as it's supposed to be my mobile pocket information system. Not *too* pleased.
Regards,
Maurice. |

it does say that you need 3 installed b4 you install the update, but you dont really if you just use the 3.01 updater to install, you can manually install the voice pack, and gps driver and it works. |

Just a quick update.
"Added to my query" on the TomTom site, asking whether they had managed to successfully backup/restore any of their 2210's that had TTN3 installed. A week later and the silence is deafening.
