I've just got one of these devices, my first thoughts...
Good..
Works fine as a satnav, no problems noticed.
Battery life good, at least 4 hours.
Satellite reception excellent, better than anything I've experienced before.
Bluetooth works on my Sony Ericson K610i, easy setup (except the internet bit!, but that is probably me))
Good, clear display.
Not so good.
Maps not upto date, roads at least 7 years old aren't there. No improvement in the last 3 years, it seems. Disappointing.
MP3 player has primitive controls, looks like an afterthought.
Preloaded data seems rubbish - find the nearest police station find nothing nearer than Ireland, and I live in Cumbria - garages, hotels likewise, a waste of storage.
So, overall, a little disappointing for the money. I'd hope version 2 would be better.

Tomtom (Teleatlas) maps have always been out of date, but hopefully the new Mapshare feature will address that to some extent.
You can also report map errors direct to Teleatlas.

The MP3 player works well, this is a satnav primarily don't forget!
You are lucky to get police stations In Ireland!
My nearest is in France, 180 miles away. Mind you they will probably get here faster than than the UK police!
Download the POI's on this site, as they are quite good, and are free.

After my initial faulty 720, I am quite happy with my 720 now that my traffic sub is working and the handsfree is working.
I think the MP3 player is great, and works well with my factory fit radio.
Firmware updates should fix the other issues like Home not working with bluetooth phones, and other niggles. |

Having plugged it into the internet it recieved a shedload of updates....
Now,
Bluetooth handsfree is rubbish, apalling quality, loud shouting required!
The FM transmitter has a range of about 2cm before it dissolves in a series of crackles.
No safety camera data.
Something has gone wrong here - will a reset help?

Try a hard reset with the paperclip in the bottom.
The update to 7.010 should not have affected bluetooth /handsfree?
The FM transmitter depends on your car aerial Iguess?
If you are not happy with the 720 then get a refund.
I got a refund on my 1st 720 from Handtec, then bought 2nd one from Argos which is working OK.
I think paying a bit more to a local retailer is worth it in terms of being able to reject the goods as not fit for purpose.
Sale of Goods Act 1979.
Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 traders must sell goods that are as described and of satisfactory quality.
If consumers discover that products do not meet these requirements they can reject them and ask for their money back providing they do so quickly. Alternatively, they can request a repair or replacement or claim compensation. |

Goods bought via distance buying - internet retailers, home shopping etc. can be rejected as "not fit for purpose". |

I meant that it's easier and faster returning faulty goods to a local shop, than an online only shop. |

Yeah definitely - I always worry that something will go missing when sending it back. |

I reset it, and it seems to be OK now. No more downloads, so the reset keeps the updates. Odd.
Thanks for the advice:) |

Hi. I have had my 720 for about 10 days now after selling my 910. Seemed to work well until today. The voice went a but funny on me (crackling) yesterday on the M6 and today, I switched it on and all of my poi's had gone. I connected it to the pc and I had a load of wierd symbols in the western europe folder and when I tried to move/delete them i get 'cannot read from source file or disc'.
I did a reset and now it will not read western union maps, saying unable to store map settings - file access error?
I cannot restore or anything - looks like I will be heading back to the store for a replacement!! |

Having used the go720 in anger, it is fine as a navigator, bar one thing. The supplied windscreen mount is rubbish - it won't stick for more than 20 minutes before it falls off the screen! I've tried making sure it is properly clean (both screen and mount), but it doesn't seem to help. Anyone else had this problem?

I also had the same problem with the windscreen mount.
Kept falling off on my own car, but now use a Brodit proclip with 720 swivel mount.
The 720 is now on my centre console. |

I've not had a problem with the mount. In fact, quite the opposite. The thing sticks like s**t to a blanket and I have trouble getting the thing off even when pulling on the little tab thing!

Tried it in another car, and it drops off:( must be marginal stickines for my mount. The mount does look a little weak - cheaper to make? -, compared to my previous system.
Maybe a lump of velcro may be the answer... |

under distance selling regs you can return a mail order item within a reasonable time for no otyer reason than you just don't like it. Sometimes this saves the agro of going to a retailer who has been primed up by TT not to offer any exchange/refund because of all the issues they are having. |

What TT says to retailers (if indeed they do say what you claim - which seems unlikely considering all the posters on these forums including myself who have had exchanges from their retailers with no hassle) does not affect your rights under the law to a refund/exchange for faulty goods. _________________ TED
