Anyone know where you can download the postcode zip file for Navigator? I believe it's usually in a root folder called 'zip' - maybe the file isn't a zip file. My version hasn't got full postcode entry for a destination. Tom Tom support have not been much help!
Thanks |

Which version Map do you have? The Postcode data comes with all, except the earliest, Maps.
The Folder is named - zip, but the files it contains are data file (and not zipped). There are two for each of the Netherlands and GB. _________________ Richard

Don't know what version map I've got...I got a free download, so I downloaded the map for Hertford. I've managed to get hold of the Great_Britain.Postal file and have put it in a directory called 'zip' on the root of the device, but still no luck. Tom Tom is installed on the device not the storage card. Is the 'zip' directory in the right place? |

Map for Hertford UK? I'd like to see that
zip folder should be at top level of card. |

I've got Navigator loaded on my main device so I've got the \program files\Navigator\ situation going on - so should the 'zip' folder be in the Navigator folder or the root of the device? I've got the 'Great_Britain.Postal' file in the 'zip' directory - do I need any other files as well? |

Where on the device is the actual map stored, also what is the size of your postcode file - Mike |

well, I seem to have references to the map everywhere, but I've got a Hertford folder & a Tom Tom folder in the '\My Documents\' directory which seem to be holding the map files. The postcode file is 8.41MB in size. |

Normally the map folder (Hertford) would go in the root directory, in your case on your device, as should the ZIP directory.
Any POIs you add would go in the map folder.
The post code file looks about the right size.
I've no experience of the city maps, but I would assume that you will be fairly limited in using POIs and postcodes. _________________ Mike

OK, I need to get this clear. If I've got Navigator installed on my device memory (i.e. \Program Files\Navigator\) then the 'zip' folder containing the postcode file should be in the device's root directory - is this correct because I have tried virtually every configuration and the full postcode functionality is not working. Another question is: should I have a postcode icon on the second 'Navigate to..' screen or should it be under 'Navigate to - address'?
Thanks |

As your map folder is within the My documents folder I would try putting the zip folder into the the same location (My Documents), that said it could be the city maps don't support postcode search as they are a small map compared to the full size ones, I have never tried a city map though so this is a pure guess at the moment.
To get the PostCode option you select Navigate To/ Address/ Postcode Is there an icon on this page for Postcode as there should be?
If it does work I would only expect it to work with postcodes for locations actually on the map you have installed - Mike |

No, it's not working at the moment - I've got the postcode icon, but after entering 3 digits, I just get the option to choose a street name and a house number. I'm guessing it's something to do with just having a city map. Is it possible to just download the map of the UK from the Tom Tom site - via Tom Tom Home or just direct from the site?
Thanks again. |

You can purchase maps from the TomTom website, log in and check out the "Plus" section where you will find the various maps for sale, at the moment their web site is down for some reason, check again later though - Mike |
