Hullo all,
Just picked up a TT one XL as a spare satnav.
Did the usual, charged it, installed TT home, backed up, deleted unneeded voices, checked it was OK....
.... and then TT home decides it should update the software (something about phones iirc) and then it went pear shaped and all I get is the animation of an SD card ejecting with a red X of doom
NOw perusing through this wonderful forum I discover it's corrupted, so I try the reset tricks, nothing, then I try instaling the backup back on the unit, nothing, so I try resetting again, at this point the only think stopping the XL exploding against the nearest wall is the thought that I only purchased it yesterday....
Any other tricks to try or just pack it up and take it back to Halfrauds??
Cheers,
J. |

Take it back and state it doesn't work, demand another one as a replacement - this will be your easier option as its only one day old, annoying that this error might be it will give you back a working device far faster.
When you get the replacement device have a read of #1 on the FAQ Page, which details how to perform a backup using Windows Explorer, at least you can trust this method.
Say nothing when you take it back, other than it didn't work - Mike |

I bought a TT One XL on Wednesday and had the exact same problem when I tried to update using Home. The update failed half way through and corrupted the application data on the memory card. Fortunately formatting the card and copying the backup onto it got everything working again.
Be sure and have the 'Show hidden files and folders' option checked in Windows Explorer when copying the data from the memory card to create your backup.
P.S. Strangely if I link to Home now it tells me there are no updates, on Wed night it offered me a phone update and a application update. |

It makes me wonder if they send them back to TomTom, or put them back on the shelf to sell again? _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav |

Funny you should say that.
A while ago I had an early TT rider, of course it went pear shaped so I went back to Halfords and got them to sort it ( I thought it'd be easier than dealing with TT).
How wrong was I, after numerous emails and phone calls I get to 3 months waiting and rant and rave in the middle of the shop.
Long story short they say OK we'll give you a new one, only to be handed back my knackered one which they had forgoten to send off back to TT
Pain in the posteria but I did get a new one in the end |
