Hi,
I'm having a bit of bother with my boss's Tomtom 510. It was freezing continually on startup, so I formatted the SD card and was going to reinstall the map from the supplied CD - only there is no map on the cd. Does anyone know how i go about getting the map? i have the little credit card thing to activate it.
Thanks |

This is not a mere "bit" of bother. Right now you have a funny shaped paperweight.
You grovel (with hope in your heart) to Tom Tom. That's assuming your boss and you never made a backup copy of the card somewhere on a PC. _________________ Dennis

So you don't get a copy of the map on cd? I havea 710 at home and I was sure that the map was on the CD as i bought a bigger CD card to install it onto.
Thanks |

Two types of CD - the one which comes with the 510/710 in the box is really only the Tom Tom program for the computer, TT Home, plus the manual.
CD with a map would be purchased. The most recent maps (April 2007) are only available by download from TT website (for MONEY of course).
I take it you haven't got backup copies.
At the very least, when you go home to your 710, back it up by copying everything to a new directory on your PC, using Windows Explorer. That way, you'll have at least one working satnav between you.
(Some people have kind, understanding bosses - some even have bosses who have no idea about computing and satnavs. Others might have to give their bosses their own GO710 to make it up. Me, I don't risk it, I'm self employed.) _________________ Dennis

Thanks for this:
Fortuantly for me he actually deleted the maps by playing around with it, trying to get it to work -
Edited by DennisN to remove Naughtyness - Sorry, but we don't go along with that sort of thing on this site - I can't let it stay in. Most viewers will understand what I've removed!! |

Good for you - could be brownie points in it for you if it works out. I hope it does. _________________ Dennis
