|
|
Hi all,
Just hooked up my new 520 and subscribed to the Traffic and Speedy cams as they had already expired on my old device.
Problem is now my 520 keeps saying (and annoyingly every few secs!) that "This content is protected for exclusive use on another device. To use it on another device go to www.tomtom.com and visit the TomTom PLUS section".
OK - well TTHome 2 updated my account and linked the new device when it first connected - and indeed the "myTomTom" bit shows the new 520 device, the correct device number and I even tried the "reset account" link but nothing seems to work!!
Anyone come across this or solved it yet? |

That's really annoying, isn't it? We told TomTom several times that it _does_ happen that users change their device, but they chose not to listen.
This is one of the reasons I am not using their Plus service - it would require me to setup a different email address per device!!
Anyhow, contact TomTom Support and explain to them that you want to have your Plus account assigned to the new device. _________________ Lutz

Thanks Lutz - contacted support but they were pretty useless - just did the same things I did (reset account, etc) and still didn't work.
I solved it myself by simply changing the email address on the TomTom account (since I have a catch-all email this was easy enough) but for others it won't be so simple. |

A week ago I had three devices, three email addresses and three passwords. Any two from six was so far beyond me that I finished up with two devices, one with two maps of Europe, the other with none. TT told me quite bluntly even if I have FIVE devices I need five email addresses! (and if Im have a complaint, write to Holland). I mean I'm a sucker for new technology and have to have all the latest gear (hence although I assured myself I wouldn't get a 720 until everybody else had sorted them out, I had one within hours of them hitting the "High Street Colliers"!). But I'm rubbish at email addresses and passwords, so I had to dispose of my third device last weekend in order to retain my sanity. _________________ Dennis

There's no evidence of your disposal having the desired effect, though. _________________ Tim |

Cos' I've still got two, can't get rid of one or I'll get withdrawal symptoms and although I've only got two, I STILL have the three email addresses and passwords and can't remember which belongs to which - always takes me at least three attempts to login to a TT account!
Or in other words, you're right!! _________________ Dennis

How did you change your email address on your plus account? I cannot find this option? Only password and name details can be changed? |

Lucky you!
I've created a new account for my 520, and assigned the device to the account. All great so far.
Go into the "Buy Traffic" section, and now it says I don't have any device
So not only can I not transfer the account, but TT won't even let me buy a new account for my 520!!!
[EDIT] The site has finally allowed me to recognise the 520 as being mine, but now gives me the prompt:
"Please note
You cannot use TomTom Traffic - 1 year subscription with your current device software."
I mean, WTF!!! |

Its now been 2 weeks since i asked tomtom to change my device code and still i am getting the 'this content is protected for exclusive use on another device' error message despite repeated emails to tomtom support, they seem to have turned the lights out and gone to the pub with my subsription money. So, if anyone knows any other way to restore my services, (I know some people have found ways around it) then please share the knowledge as i'm losing my patience here. |

Have you tried changing the device code on line in MyTomTom? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I finally got it sorted. Yippee! It appears that the 'reset account' button on tomtom's traffic website has not been working correctly! Tomtom assures me it is now working and guess what? It is! |
