I am currently waiting for the delivery of my 720.
I will soon be visiting the USA.
Does anybody know if the downloadable TomTom USA maps will work on the 720? _________________ Regards

Actually....
I have downloaded the USA maps and have been trying to install them on a SD but unfortunatley it won't recognise the map.
So far I have not been able to make enough room to install them on the internal memory.
Any ideas on how to get it to work? |

You have to have the operating softwear on the card too, or TomTom won't see the map. Not sure how/where to download the softwear, I think you just connect to TomTom HOME, and it does it automaticly. _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav |

I thought that this was no longer the case with the 720? |

No, that is not true for GO720. I have myself Western Europe in flash memory and North America (and nothing else) on my 4GB SD card. It works fine, just came home from a 9000km USA/Canada trip. |

Not on the unit I have in my possession, you don't. Darren dropped off his retail version of the GO720 this morning and it had an SD card in the slot with some mp3 files on it. I've added a map to the SD card and it switches betwwen this and the maps on the Internal Memory without a problem.
I used HOME to install the new map to the SD card and three extra files have been installed besides the Map directory. These are
Code: |
ttdesk.ver
ttgo.bif
tthome.bif

No matter how many cards I have tried the720 refuses to read the maps off the SD card. I too installed them via HOME.
How have your formatted the SD card FAT16 or FAT32.
Also everytime I try and boot the 720 with an SD card I get the red cross symbol.
Any ideas? |
