Ah - Touched, as mes French amis would say. I'd almost forgotten that. But I think Andy gave me a link to an Acronym dictionary, which I've set as a Bookmark, although I actually learned RTFM long before I became DennisN (after the one and only manual I ever DID read - Lotus 123 back in 1986, I wore it out in six months).
Must be off to go sit by the front door - 720 due inside 1.5 hours now. _________________ Dennis

Hi Darren,
Thank for the info on the N73.
Could I just ask what you actually think of the phone?
Thanks in advance.

Indeed it does and I am busily working on that now (I only received the retail unit Monday).

I have also connected a SE T610 without any problems.
It is also very easy to switch between phones, but only one will connect at a time.
Cheers

Well I installed Speed Zoned onto our 720 last night (using the HOME version of the download) and it worked fine? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Having set up this up 3 or four times, the unit seems to lost the link to them after it's reset and they need setting up again. I'm wondering if this is a fault with the unit or if it's something I'm doing wrong. If anyone else experiences this with a 720 please post.
Thanks. |
Not had that issue even after resetting. _________________ Darren Griffin |

It's OK, the menus can be a little slow but the camera is good (in good lighting) and the web browser works well. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Dixons is now showing the 720 as In Stock! I also got a mail this morning to say they are processing my order:
"This is to confirm that we are starting to process your order. When we are able to confirm your order we will send you a third email, which will also confirm dispatch of the goods"
Whooohoo! |

No, you have the same possibilities as you have on GO910. That is if you use TTS! |
Thanks runarg, it had changed to a non-TTS voice. How did that happen?

Thanks Darren, I will try again, I was using the 1.5 version of HOME. I have subseqently updated HOME to 1.6 from the CD, and this recognises the unit as a 720, where as 1.5 only said it was a GO.
Cheers

Have you by any chance inserted a memory card in the SD slot? _________________ Darren Griffin |

My order at Dixons is being processed.
Let's see how long it takes to arrive.

:D Having read the manual last night there apears to be some very small but nice improvements, hopefully my 720 will be waiting for me this evening...
The only thing that I noticed that was a backward step is the warranty, if I'm not mistaken previous GO's had a 2 year warranty, reading the small print the x20 now only have a 12month warranty. |

Darren,
I have a we card that I am going to try tonight. So far I plan to use it for podcasts.
I am assuming that I just need to put them into an mp3 directory on the card. _________________ TT720 V8.010, regular audio book user.

Could any of you lucky TomTom GO 720 owners let me know the version number of the Western Europe map supplied with the unit? Have you seen any improvements compared to the Navteq map v660.1256 and the Tele Atlas map v675.1409? I wonder if there will pop up a v680 map for Western Europe soon (just as for Eastern Europe) or if the next maps will be v7xx indicating the connection with the Navcore 7 SW. |
