This would also (in all probability) leave rings on the windscreen. Rings are generally caused by
A/ deposition from the mount itself and
B/ from gathering of plastic particles that are issued from the cars air circulation system.
Have a look at the http://www.brodit.com/ range of mounts. I use one for my nuvi 660. There is a car-specific plate and a GARMIN nuvi attachment required. Not exactly cheap - but a very elegant solution. It places the unit at the top of the centre console (on my VW) giving excellent access to power, audio into the car-radio and connection for the GTM21 into the external aerial.
Also it is below windscreen height so no visual obstruction. When the nuvi is removed the remaining part is the same colour as the car dash and is not recognisable to all but the determined thief. And I NEVER leave the unit itself in the car. It's one reason why I went for the nuvi - it fit's shirt pockets very well indeed! _________________ Phil |

As well as agreeing with Phil re Brodit mounts, I have some small concerns over that "Garmin professional mount". Firstly, if it's actually made by Garmin, I can't find much information on it via the Garmin website, and secondly, the picture has the mount upside down, which again I would not expect for a Garmin picture.
As such, I would be nervous of the origin of this "Garmin" mount. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |
