Hi all,
This is the very first thread i have posted on this web site, and i thought i would bring an intresting quote from a legal newsletter i recieve.
Mobile cameras
As a result of recent changes the police are no longer to receive the revenue from mobile speed cameras. They are therefore exempt from the requirements to publicise them. The first police force to follow this is Cumbria, but others are likely to follow suit. You cannot rely on a Road Angel or other similar device to provide you with accurate and up-to-date information on camera locations. 8O
Has anyone else seen this, this quote came from White Dalton Motorcycle solicitors. How accuarte will speed camera databases be if this goes national. personnally i download P.GPS db every month, and it has saved me a few times... but does this raise a conern for the future of speed camera detection devices.... |

As the PGPSW database is made up of the observations and submissions of is members, for both the fixed cameras and the mobile camera locations, this little nugget doesn't apply here. :D
For us even the mobile database is a little questionable at best, because speed traps are notoriously, Mobile. But once fixed cameras are spotted they are notified and entered, and when they take them down again they are notified and removed.
If you spot any not on, or to be removed from the database yourself, just submit them on the speed camera page and if you are lucky enough to get in there first you'll be rewarded with a liftime subscription to the PGPSW website, etc. _________________ Dom

What a load of BS that is :D . Neither we nor any other database supplier have ever replied on locations from Police Forces or Safety Camera Partnerships because they never published them! So I fail to see what if anything has changed as a result of this policy Beside as far as I was aware, they never received the money anyway, it always went to Central Government with an allowance retained to fund the operation of the partnership itself only!
We use reports from users and our own teams to collate the data and will continue to do so and expand on this using our own methods. Whenever I have seen location data published by partnerships it has been in the format Mobile vans will be operating on the A123 From Mon - Wed and the B456 from Thu until Sat and any map published of fixed sites is of use for guidance only as it is usually at a very large scale. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Maybe that why TomTom have come up with the mapshare, as the way this site get the data for speed camera, they think doing the same with the maps will get maps on tomtom more accurate. as your database is a lot better then their on speed camera's _________________ TomTom Go 700,

This is like train spotting here.
I saw REDLIGHT:9690@50 at Hatton Cross flash on monday, and I saw GATSO:913@40 at Osterley being cleaned yesterday, ooh! what a sight! _________________ Dom
