Its a conventional 12 digit OSGB ref. (i.e. AAeeeeennnnn) giving you 1 metre accuracy - more than good enough for GPS systems even with EGNOS corrections applied. _________________ Phil |

When I tried this I fired up the Nuvi 310D and got a position fix at the rear of my house in OSGB format, I then dropped a marker falg on to Memory Map on the PC and typed in the Garmin derived coordinates, the flag was a considerable position North of where my house is actually located, I will measure the distance later when I get home and can use the PC but it was quite a way out.
By the way can you not run Memory Map on the SPVc500, I have used it on SPVc600 quite well, but you need to be using Memory Map version 5 for it to work on MS Smart Phone, and to be honest it is not as versatile as MM on a PDA. Have a look at the T Mobile MDA Compact - III or O2 XDA Orbit as these work very well as phones with inbuilt GPS, all you then need is some software to use on the device - Mike |

TomTom version 6 will run on PDA devices that use the operating system of Windows Mobile 2003SE or newer, there is a problem using TT6 on earlier operating systems with the screen rotate function.
I use it on my PDA based phone with integral GPS receiver (HTC Artemis) - well worth considering a device of this type - Mike |

I'm running TTN 6.03 on an iPAQ 1940 with no trouble at all. I've even had TT support which surprised me :o .
If you look at TT's website http://www.tomtom.com/products/category.php?ID=2&Language=1 you'll find that TT6 is available as the TomTom/HP Navigation Pack on an HP iPAQ hw6915 direct from TT _________________ TT Go Essential

Mike.Out of interest what would you say was the advantage of having the screen view rotate to landscape when navigating?

I don't think there is anyadvantage - with direction-up display then it makes more sense to have traditional portrait display. However majority of PNDs are landscape - so I guess most people think the opposite to me. Maybe it's to do with the 'additional info' that is placed around the edges of the map/route. _________________ Phil |

Yes thats what I thought about the direction up and portrait display but I did not want to be missing out by keeping my old steam job going,

[quote="Dave-H"]Right, i think PDA is the way to go, and stick Tom-Tom 6 on it.
What other software will i need to use it as a hand held GPS reciever to check location in OSGB?
Any [free or cheap] off road mapping i could also use on it?
quote]
Right, got P350 with TT6.
As above, what software do i need to load in order to use it as a conventional GPS reciever [displaying current position in OSGB?]
Where do i find said software, is it free [or cheap]?
Same again with off road mapping, suggestions? |
