There is a major design flaw in how the GPS unit recieves power when docked in its cradle mount. The designers didn't take into account vibration. Vibration will create divits in the contact points, eventually disrupting motorcycle battery power to the TomTom Rider. At this point, you have 4 hours of internal unit battery life before it dies on you.
The described problem occured during a cross-country trip. 3 attempted to contact customer service were fruitless. The maze of phone promts only further added to the frustration!
After arriving home, I finally was able to contact customer support. I told them what had happened to my Rider after 2 months of use. They assured me a new complete unit would be sent the next day. 2 weeks of waiting, I again contacted customer service. And then another 2 weeks,,, still nothing. This company and the TomTom Rider are a joke!
Knowing what I know now, I would rather use a roadmap because it's less frustrating and doesn't need to be sent in for service. |

I thought I'd read that wrong...... but no, a bit of a blow for everyone who paid over £400!
I wonder how the spec compares to the more expensive non"local" model?
Ebayers are still trying to sell them for £300+ 8O |

Has anyone else experienced problems with an original Rider Cradle?
The plastic clip broke away from the sradle on the motorway!!! Luckily I use a lanyard so the unit was not lost.
HOWEVER
Sent cradle back to Tom Tom in June
Would not replace under warranty - several conflicting reasons - one being I was not original purchaser.
Asked for broken cradle to be returned (as I'd bought a Touratek holder which does not use the plastic clip)
Still waiting for the return of my property from Tom Tom
Conflicing emails and conversations.
About to start Court Action.
Must be design fault as Mk2 is different!!! |

Just a heads up, but I have seen a similar complaint about the zumo's pin connector on a zumo website. _________________ Tim |

I looked up the Garmin zūmo 550 and if it was not as expensive, this would be a better unit then the TT rider and even the TT rider 2.
If TomTom could build a unit like the 720 and waterproof like the rider that would be the tomtom to have, and goes from car to bike no problem _________________ TomTom Go 700,
