My Compaq iPaq 3800/Navman 3450 sleeve went totally ballistic today. All was working beauitfully up to last night when I put the final touches to my set up by adding Niels' UK Postcode Finder and CheckPOInt v2.0.2. This complemented Tomtom 2 , Navman Serial Driver 3.1.6 plus POI Edit v3. The last thing I did was to mess around with changing the hard button defaults (may have been a big mistake?). Turned it back on again this morning only to find I had seemingly lost TT2, CheckPOInt, Post Code Finder. Navm,an Serial Driver and even the File Explorer icon though programme still seem be there when viewed through Active Sync 3.7.1). Check in Remove Programs and all seemed to be still loaded. Then I suddenly realised that neither Storage Card - 128 MB CF card (with all maps on etc) in Navman nor 256 MB SD card (empty) in iPaq were being recognised by the iPaq. Also rather oddly the battery light was pulsing away even though it was connected to the cradle (first time I had noticed that).
Any idea folks?
Also as a last resort may upgrade my iPaq to more up to date with latest OS on (WM2003 or 4 (if it exists?) but will any iPaq fit my Navman 3450 sleeve or am I restricted to certain models? If so which? |

Maybe the battery power was fully drained?
Not sure on the 3800 but on the 2210 the battery light pulsates when in the cradle to show the battery is charging. when it is steady the battery is fully charged. |

You may well be right but would that make it "lose" TT2, plus 3.1.6 serial driver, CheckPOInt and UK postcode finder and not be able to recognise either SD card in iPaq or CF card in Navman sleeve?
In replt to yours - Yes mine's the same. It pulses when charging in the cradle or via the in car charger but I've never seen it flash when unconnected from a source. |

Hi Icsys
Thanks for the iPaq details. I guess these are not generally for sale anymore having just looked at the latest product range on the HP site. The only ones mentioned are h5550, h4150, h2210, h1940 and h1930. I suppose none of these would fit my 3450 sleeve? |

If the light is on all the time it sounds like a fault on the ipaq.
A quick search suggests those models are discontinued. You may be able to pick up a second hand one if it turns out yours is faulty. |

CS,
Have a look on ebay. There are a number of IPAQ 3800 series listed. |

Navman's website also lists the 5550 as being compatible. I certailnly hope it is, as mine should be here on Monday. _________________ Tim |

The page you link to does indeed state that it *is* compatible with the 5550, so I'm smiling.
(And I quote:-)
The Navman GPS 3450 is compatible with the following iPAQ Pocket PC's H3600, H3700, H3800, H3900, H5150, H5450 and H5550 series iPAQs _________________ Tim |

Apologies if the information I provided is wrong. There is no intention to mislead anyone. just trying to be helpful.
CS
You may be able to buy a NEW ipaq. However,
I would suggest that you double check this info with whoever you decide to purchase the kit from as virtually all the retailers I have visited suggest that the 3450 sleeve will only fit the ipaq 3600 3700 and 3900 series.
Having said that, I would expect Navman to know which PPCs their product works with. Their glossy product brochure does not state the ipaq5550 is compatible. |
