Please don't double post - it can make things confussing.
Did you copy all the files? i.e. did you ask Windows Explorer to show all Hidden files too? |

I don't think that device will work with any card larger than 512MB -Mike |

well it does say that the largest memory card for the icn 520 is 2048mb.
it does transfer but the navman just doesnt recognise it. does it have something to do with you can only use the memory card that came with the system???
thanks |

Plenty of folks have used after market SD cards in ICN 520's. You should be able to find comments on this forum from users of cards up to 1 Gb.
It seems that the important parameter is the read/write speed rather than the size. _________________ Navman ICN 520

right ok, looks like other people arent having any problems with the 2gb card. i have a kingston sd memory card and have no idea about the read/write speeds.
why do i allways have to have the problems!!! !
i have also contacted navman technical support and i am awaiting thier reply.
also, should i try transfering through a card reader instead of my icn and see what i get or is there no difference?
thanks for the replies |

The only difference that I can imagine is that a reader will use USB 2.0 and transfer the data pdq, whereas the ICN is USB 1.1 and takes forever! _________________ Navman ICN 520

hi.
just had a little brainwave. dont you think it could be the sd card is faulty/corrupt in some way. because everytime i successfully copy all files to 2gb card the arcs folder displays some wierd files etc.
check this:
also, i cant do anything with these files. i cant delete, rename or move. i cant even delete the arcs folder. |

ok. i now have a reply from navman technical support and they say that the most a navman 520 can handle is 512md. i know this is wrong because there are threads with users using a 2gb sd card.
i returned the 2gb card and have ordered another. i will let you know the outcome of the new card when i recieve it.
thanks
P.s. could anyone advise me as to which 2gb sd card to buy if the new one doesnt work. |

hi again,
at last ive got my 2gb sd card to work!!!!!
it was, as i assumed, the sd card itself that was the problem. i sent the old one back and ordered another of ebay. i recieved it a while back but someone was borrowing my satnav. anyway, i transfered everything onto the memory card from my pc. got my navman back today and inserted my new memory card and everthing worked fine! no problems whatsoever. now all i need to do is install tomtom on it!!!
just thought id let everyone know and help those who might have this problem in the future.
thanks for all the help |
