|
|
I have just upgraded my TomTom Go to a 910. My old Go had the power supply hard wired into my LandRover Freelander and would switch itself on when i turned the ignition on and off when i turned the ignition off, which was ideal. I have now hard wired the power supply for the 910 in exactly the same way that the Go was but have found that although the unit switches on automatically when i turn the ignition on, it does not switch itself off when i switch off the ignition. Its a real drag having to remember to switch off the TomTom before i get out of the car every time especially when the old Go worked so well in this respect.
Does anyone know if this is configurable anywhere? |

Not in it's current state.
Someone did engineer the software for V6.524 to be able to do this, but I didn't follow it up. Can't remember the details.
As I take the unit out of the vehicle as I park, I switch it off at the same time. So I don't find it a problem. _________________ Richard

It's discussed (at length!) HERE.
There's 4 pages and I'd advise wading through it all, as it was an ongoing project and various versions of the "fix" were available to download (just glimpsing through, there were new versions on page 3, for example).
IIRC, the very latest software from TomTom crippled it again |

I got it from the man and I have it working on my 710, latest os 6.525. And before you ask, I backed it up a trillion times before I tried it! Three files in the Root directory
autopoweroff.ko,
cleanup.txt,
startautopoweroff.sh
I have no idea what they all do, just that my 710 switches off when I turn off the ignition. _________________ Dennis

Just a quick reminder as to why TomTom "engineered" the software to not switch off the device:
When you hit a bump in the road and the 910 bounces on the mount, any slight momentry disconnection between the 910 and the mount will cause the device to power down.
Back-up the device using Windows Explorer to the PC BEFORE you add the extra software in, then if you find it keeps powering down on bumpy roads you will know why - remove the software "tweek" and it will remain switched on (as intended) - Mike |
