|

I recently installed the USA maps on my 710 (2 GB SD card with European Maps). During the install, I was presented with multiple install options for maps (e.g., various state combinations, USA/Canada & North America). I installed the USA/Canada combination. The North American file was 1.4 Gig. I was wondering what the USA/Canada file was missing vs the North American file. The file size difference for the USA/Canada file was around 800-900 MB and the North American file size was 1.4 GB.
I am not planning to use the TT outside of USA/Canada in North America. Is there a difference of detail content in the maps for the USA between the USA/Canada and the North American files?
Thanks in advance,
Brian |

Surely the North America Map is smaller than USA/Canada? In which case what you're missing is Canada? _________________ Darren Griffin |

The USA/Canada map is the cut down version made to fit onto a 1Gb memory card. It might also omit the non-contiguous states and territories. The NA map is the real deal. _________________ Tim |

Tim,
Thanks for the response, you have confirmed what I suspected. Now I need to figure out if a 4GB SD card will work in my 710 so that I can install complete versions of both Europe & USA/Canada maps on one card.

Most 4GB cards are a different technology called SDHC and will NOT work.
Apparently there are now some "normal" type versions that are OK.
Try a search for "4GB" to find more info and details of brands that people have got to work.. |
