On Tuesday I asked them what the latest news was and the latest ETA....the answer from 'Lewis' was If you keep an eye on our website (which is going live in a week or two) all updates will be on there!!! |

And now they have changed it to August and their website has still not 'gone live'. Fills me with a great deal of confidence about giving them £400 |

Surely better than taking your cash when it's not ready for release? _________________ Darren Griffin |

It does make you wonder what it is that's causing it to be at least 5 months late....and the website hasn't changed at all since the pointless countdown reached 0.00.00 waaaaaaay back when. |

5 Months? We were always led to believe that July was the original planned availability date? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Oh...well one online shop still has 'available from End of Feb-early March' on it's Satmap page. The email I (and everyone else) recieved on 23 Mar has changed due to it being a HTML format email but it does still say that 'over the course of the next two month we will keep you informed on developments...which suggests an end of May release....it also suggests they might keep us informed which they haven't....as I said their website has not changed in any way since at least a week before 23 March. Very disappointing
And searching for any cached official release dates made me discover the bike mount for it will cost £19.99 |

I see they say this month now, and that it is in production.
What are the pros and cons of the planning being on the device? I'm a bit worried by that. _________________ Doug Weller

It is an advantage to be able to plot a route on the device if you need to butl I can see that a disadvantage of planning all your routes on a 3 inch screen is that you won't see very much of the map at any one time and you may end up plotting the wrong way as you lose track of where you are ultimately going and then having to delete a load of waypoints to get back to the right road or track. They did say that they would be having an online route planning utility for owners but given the amount of time it has been since they first told us that they would be even launching a website for prospective buyers I'm not holding my breath.
http://www.satmap.com/eshot/index_1.php still says 'Available August'!!
One thing is for sure, I'm no longer going to be buying one of the first batch. |

Just had a response back from Satmap suggesting that the units are (really) now in production, and the first batch should be in the country next week, for sale by the end of this month.
Now I'm as cynical as the next person, but the device holds so much promise that I'm keeping my fingers crossed. |

My only real concern (except for software problems) is that I want reception to be as good as a Garmin 60 series -- ie under trees, etc. That's a deal breaker.
And I just got a Nokia 6110 Navigator given to me! I _________________ Doug Weller

It's SiRFStarIII so that should be a given. _________________ Darren Griffin |
