Should i just get a new tom tom that already has the feature on it and sell this now elderly one?
Also how do i go about updating this one?

My Classic, older than your 300, is running with Western European Maps and it's doing fine.
If you're happy with it, and it's working OK, you could just purchase the WE Map, or a single country, and save quite a bit of money until it does go belly up.
The Maps could then be transferred to a newer device, if need be. _________________ Richard

With the discount, country maps cost 48 Euros each.
Spain and Portugal comes as one Map, so you only need two maps!

You'll also need a larger SD card. TBH it's much more economic to buy the full Western Europe map. _________________ Darren Griffin |

If you don't need it for a year, I wouldn't do anything drastic just yet.
Your old software can be upgraded free of charge at any time via TomTom Home. This is likely to apply to future versions of the software as well. (Just make sure you back up your SD card before upgrading anything).
Maps are likely to be updated again before you travel so you might as well make sure you buy the most up-to-date version available. Prices are on the TomTom website. However, the current versions are discounted until the end of July. Western Europe is now €80 (about £55), reduced from €100.
I'm currently using a Go 300 the latest version of the software (v6.52) and the most recent UK & IE plus Major Roads of Europe map (v675). This combination is working fine without any issues. |
