|
|
I have SmartST Pro V1 on my 2210.
Do you know if I can install V2 along side the V1 or will I have to remove V1 first. Navman are sending me an upgrade (they say upgrade, I'm assuming its a full copy as I have to send back V1 to them).
As I have to send it back I will never be able to reinstal so I need to back up the copy on my 2210 incase I loose it. I did instal it on the CF but then cut and pasted it back to main memory when a mate told me it would run better there, all I had to do was replace the shortcut with a new one.
I was thinking I could do the same and keep a copy of V1 on the CF, so many people are saying V2 is not very good.
Anybody tried keeping both on a machine?
Thanks |

V2 overwrites V1 I'm afraid. |

Thanks, I had a feeling it might.
I might try saving a copy of the files onto my desktop then replacing them back to a new directory and see what happens.
I will also load it up from a different desktop.
After reading all the complains about V2 I'm startting wonder if I have done the right thing in upgrading as there is no going back, I had to post V1 back to them.
Thanks |

Hi Ziggy
As gakennedy say's V2 overwrites V1.
My question however is, why are you being asked to return V1
With the iCN 630 upgrade, V2 was sent out by Navman FOC and no request made at any time for the return of V1 software.
You didn't say if you are being charged for the upgrade
Quite frankly I think I would hang onto your SmartST Pro V1 software for the time being, at least then if you are not happy with V2 you can revert back to the old V1 software and maps.
Has anyone else come across this situation
Regards

I did get it FOC because I only bought it in December (took a few emails) but I had to return the V1 and send proof of Purchase.
Its already gone in the post so its a bit late.
This could be a new policy. |

Well I think version 2 is very good. it's just the occasional voice errors and certain roads not in the maps, oh- and the errors in the database (phew)
Hopefully if enough people complain about the errors in version 2 then Navman might just release a patch/service pack asap to fix them.
I have mailed them about some errors I have found but as yet I am waiting for a reply. |

Hi icsys
I'm glad somebody else seems pleased with V2. I was beginning to wonder after reading lots of adverse comments, but I've used it regularly and to date it's not let me down.

To be honest, this is my first GPS system so I can't comment on other versions.
I bought the version 2 because it sounded like it was now on a par with TomTom (3D maps, re-routing, etc...) but with the 'better' Navman mapping.
It was only after installing it and reading the posts here that I realised that I had in fact got the same maps as TomTom (Tele Atlas). I was disappointed as the Navtech maps are reputedly better, but having been using it now for three weeks I am on the whole happy with it.
There are a few issues that I have come across (such as incorrect voice directions and errors in the database) Once these are corrected I'm sure it will be a great product. I just hope they do it soon! |
