|
|
Dear all,
I recently bought v9 maps for my nuvi and successfully sent to the internal memory. When I untick v8 in the nuvi's map info menu I loose postcode support. It seems odd having v8 and v9 ticked? Which takes preference and how do I know I am seeing v8 maps and not v9?
Cheers. |

I only got around to loading V9 to my 350 about a week back. I took out the SD card rather than have any problems and loaded V9.
With that done there is no longer any mention of V8 on the nuvi.
I would guess that your nuvi may struggle if you are saying you have both versions in the memory, if there was an option to retain V8 on my machine I never saw it and can't really see the point.
I'm not sure how you've got both versions on the machine and I've just checked with a friend with a 300 who only has V9 after the install of the new mapping. |

When you first load up the DVD, it should offer to upgrade your maps - this is the most efficient way of moving to v9 (if your unit is supported). This replaces the compressed v8 map file on the internal memory with a compressed v9 map file - using MapSource to copy map segments will use the normal non-compressed map files, which will take up more room, and not offer full functionality. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

Hi,
Thanks for your help!
Bit of a cock-up:
The unlock cert with my nuvi was for a different nuvi (different serial number). I had bought city navigator v8 for my 60csx and unlocked for my nuvi to get maps of mainland europe. So, when going through the upgrade procedure it actually thought I was updating v8 (non-NT), sent me the v9 non-nt dvd. I dutifully paid my $88.12 but then found the problem described in my original post.
I phoned garmin this morning and they gave me the registration code for my actual serial number. My nuvi is now registered and I should get a v9 NT free upgrade as it has only just been registered. I phoned back to get a refund on the V9 non-NT but then ran into a problem as they had no record of my purchase or my coupon code for the upgraded non-nt V8. So they said the only way to get my money back was to put it in writing and enclose a copy of my bank statement proving the charge. I did this immediately as I was able to print an online statement. I also photocopied the back of the nuvi and the included unlock cert proving the nuvi was provided with the wrong cert.
One more problem... in My Garmin I now have two nuvi's registered, someone elses! (the wrong cert), and mine! When I click either in the home page of my garmin I get error 404. I hope this is a general glitch that everyone is experiencing at the moment..?
Cheers. |
