I have read all the info on this thread but have not yet ventured into making any changes. It is possibel that someone can post the instructions for 1) adding some of the windows based programs and 2) adding TT6 and speedcams. I have a little knowledge and do not want to mess the unit up. Thanks for all the info on this thread.

I've tested this program:
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/reset.shtml

One little issue I've found is that you need to press and hold the power button(suspend) on the device until it reboots after running the software. How Strange!

anyone now of a better way?

Ok - I'm confused.....

The software on the SD card for the Aytobe has the directory "MobileNavigator" (note the capital N) which is the same way that Navigon spell their MobileNavigator|4 (6) product for mobile GPS's. The icon also looks similar. So my first though was to use the Navigon product, copy into the directory, and off we go - none of this messing around with TT!?!?!

Then I noticed that Navigon use Navteq maps, not TeleAtlas as claimed on the Aytobe.... perhaps it is an older version and they changed mapping?

Can anyone shed any light onto this????

Thanks... G

No need to cease commenting. Converting the Aytobe to run TomTom is not the issue here at all.

..... To get the full 7 digit database up and running, download the offical update below.

http://www.tomtom.com/updates/great_britainpostal_all.zip Size: 13.0 MB (13,601,358 bytes)

....

When I posted that link sometime ago the mods deleted my post on the grounds that the link is provided by TT on an individual basis only.
In any event thats an old version. TT have had a least two versions since then.

The reason i wanted to do the reset is that i've used active sync to do a full backup and you need to soft reset after restoring,

and the little reset app posted above does the trick fine, now i can use the hard reset............lose all my stuff on there..........then do the restore (which takes seconds) then do the soft reset and everythings back as it was!

I've got the reset app on the root of my storage card for easy access after the resore.

I open the file and it asks if i want to reset yes or no..... also says choose no to power off?.........anyway i select yes to reset, open the file again then select no... it reboots and all is well, but i'll have to give that regedit prog another go to stop malata.exe running (as i still have to kill it after the reset) but i cant run the regeit prog now as it's now saying one of the files needed...blah blah blah..aint there?

anyone know why?

a more detailed explanation of the regedit would be nice too;)

Use the regedit with MFC/KFC/whatever its called. When its running, you cant see the buttons (unless you hide the taskbar) but you can work your way through all of the keys etc and change them as you like. Use the process killer to quit regedit.

I am so addicted to this little gadget!

Ok, here`s another handy one for you...

Battery Watch. Puts a little battery icon on your taskbar to show how much power is left.

Anyone fancy sharing storage files?

Here`s mine:

backupfile.STG

I`m not sure how much setting up is needed after restoring with that. It`s an experiment.

Caveat: I accept no liability if any harm comes to your A2B!

What you got installed etc? what settings do you have?

I've done the regedit now to stop malata didn't realise that the power button stops working too, but just use the suspend in the start menu and for some reason the power button works fine to turn back on, i'm sure there must be a way of configuring the buttons in the way that malata uses them to use them for other purposes.
So, i did all that then backed it up and tested the hard reset and restore and all the settings restored fine (after the soft reset)

great so far!

Progs:
Battery Watch
SIPrc
PE
TCPMP
MobileNavigator
GPS Speed Sentry
IBE Regedit
Reset

Settings:
Boots straight to desktop - no Malata running but the power button works as normal and the top button (hoping to get it mapped to run the keyboard) still clicks when pressed.
A nice shaded background which gets rid of the Windows CE message across the screen.
All progs have links in the normal windows start button.
