Which in all honesty is the better of the two. Either the Garmin C510D with TMC. Or NAVMAN F20 + TMC CAR SAT NAV F30 SATNAV GPS?
I have the C510D which is sending me loopy by sending me not the correct easiest routes anywhere. |

I cannot do a direct comparison as I only have a 310D Nuvi but it should be good enough for an answer. For the last week or so I have been trying the Navman F30 with TMC, I have to say I have found the device very easy to use, nice logical menu, very quick to acquire a GPS fix and RDS-TMC that seems to work where other offerings simply cannot get a signal.
If I had to choose it would be the F30, I don't want to say too much about it or it will spoil the units write up, suffice to say it has impressed me, I have experianced no stupid routes, the unit has taken me from AtoB with little fuss each time.
The Garmin on the otherhand still has a long way to go with the menu structure and interface, something just isn't quite right - Mike |

Sorry about the double up of posting. Could I double check that the item you mentioned in your reply to me is as follows The NAVMAN F20 + TMC CAR SAT NAV F30 SATNAV GPS?. Is it possible to upload The GPSworld speed cam data base plus POI's such as Scotland's Secret Nuclear Bunker which I have to taken a party of pensioners to next week.
Thanks |

Yes its an F30 i.e. F20 + T1 RDS-TMC, its working well as I type this on the M6 (passenger for a change).
I have not loaded any custom POI as yet but will try it later today, bear in mind you need extra software to install POI files though. - Mike |

Does the software come with a connectivity kit? I take it "being a newbie" that speed cam up dates and POI's can be down loded from the Pocket GPS world site. I am a subscriber to GPSWorld. |

Yes the the software you need is part of the connectivity kit , whcih is basically a CD-Rom with the program on it for adding camera / POI's plus a USB to Mini USB lead.
I've got a Navman F20 and I purchased the T1 Traffic unit seperately ( I would suggest doing the " aerial mod " if you are going to get an F30 ) _________________ Keith

I have just checked that postcode ( KY16 8QH ) in my F20 against the map on the Scotland's Secret Bunker website and they are both in the same place. _________________ Keith

The T1 needs to be powered up from the ciggy lighter socket in order to work, then you will get a TMC box lower left of the screen, when this turns green the device is locked on to the correct radio frequency and has traffic information available, to vie the info listed tap the green icon, to view more details about a specific incident tap the item in the list - Mike |

Thanks just off to try it? The Garmin runs off the power within the unit.

Just back from my test All works ok inc TMC from the stock antenna. But I find it strange that you have to put on an power adapter then plug into the TMC instead of being able to tun all from the USB socket on the right! |
