Seems interesting, not bad for the price....the thing is that i've already got a windows mobile 5 smartphone and i have a BT GPS unit problem is that on the TT webby is says that my phone is not on the compatibility list.

It really anoys me because TT mobile 5 did support WM5 then they bring out this TT6 to merge the two softwares and it isn't compatible with WM5 Smartphones, I mean what is that about. Talk about alienating one of the biggest customer bases you can have!
If it did work I would buy it as I've seen it for £79 one time.

Regarding the 7 digit postcode thingy...

Copy the zip folder with the postcode file in to the Navigator folder so it look like ..... /MMC_Storage/Navigator/Zip (forgive my naming of the MMC I can't remember what it called)

Just in case, download the latest version of the postcode database from http://www.tomtom.com/updates/great_britainpostal_all.zip. Install the files to another location, ie. your PC not the PPC Aytobe

You can see my instructions here.

Look at the last post.

I got one of these a couple of days ago. Spent all yesterday tinkering! Managed to get a better media player installed and working but not much else.

Does anyone know how to use the music player icon to link to something else? I tried the music = .... but it didn`t work.

Also, has anyone had any luck in running other CE progs?

You are talking about the AyToBe?

I got one a week ago, and have installed and tested the following:

TomTom v5 and v6
GPS Speed Sentry - version 1.31 works best.
PowerPoint, Excel, and Word Viewers.
PWord.
Core Video Player.

Regarding installation, you will need to Hex edit to find the needed missing DLLs.
most common is "aygshell.dll", gx.dll, mfcce300.dll, and olece300.dll.

I have problems with programs that require “mfcce300.dll” and still giving me the missing components message, anyone any clue on this?

The problem with the missing start/task bar is that Auto-hide is selected.
The sip keyboard works too, but to use it without the task bar you need a program called “SIPrc”.

hope this helps.

Yes, the AytoBe.

Maybe we should compile a list of software and what`s needed to get it working? Something like:

Title - Description - Compatibility (works "out of box", other files reqd, etc)

Good idea.

What to start a new AyToBe thread for this so it's easy to find?

Have you tried the latest version of GPS Speed Sentry? As of version 1.5 speed camera POI's are supported.

Have a look on my website; http://www.tchartdev.com

I know that the program does run on CE devices with some quirks (dialog sizes etc). If you have time could you PM me with a list of issues so I can make it work a bit better?

Regards

After buying one of these last week I've searched high and low on the net then came across this forum (and even better... this thread) so this is my first post, here's what i've managed to do so far (through the help of this thread):-

Unlocked my Windows CE (by editing the autorun.inf file in the Flash Storage directory with Active Sync)

Installed TomTom 6 and the UK & IE maps (a nightmare.... but working great now)

Updated the full postcode search

Installed the freeware TCMP media player

Installed "SIPrc" (to be able to use the keyboard input panel)

everything i've installed (TomTom etc.) was installed by default into the program files folder but then I copied them over to the memory card and I'm running them from there (as when you perform a hard reset they all disapear).

But i'd like to find a way of unhiding the taskbar too and also wonder if it's possible to get rid of the opening screen and just boot directly into Windows (we can hope!!) instead of that damn "Malata" crap (but this isn't such a great problem).

All things said......... I think this was £100 well spent!

Thanks to everyone on this thread.........and keep it coming!

It's a Intel PXA255 300Mhz CPU, so use ARM.
also make sure the programes are for Win CE .NET 4.2 or you mayl have issues.

I installed 1.5 first, and then added the dll "aygshell.dll" as I did in 1.31, but it runs too slow for some reason. Why would that be? version 1.31 is very fast and no errors. The device OS is Win CE .NET 4.2
