I have been told that it is not possible for people to edit their posts on this forum. The forum software clearly allows edits but this facility has not been activated by PocketGPSWorld. Nearly all forums allow the poster to edit their own post. A few forums even allow you to delete a post providing it has not received a reply.
I would like to ask we are given the facility to edit our own posts. If you are concerned about this how about allowing this after a trial period of say a month?
I would like to hear from PocketGPSWorld why the editing of posts is disallowed.
Thanks. _________________ Nick Russell

This has been discussed several times in the past and a search of the forums using your key words will bring them up..

it is still currently being discussed.
the idea behind not allowing posts to be edited is to keep things in an obvious order. i.e. after a post has been made and people have responded to it if the OP then edits his/her post then it has potential to make the thread complete nonsense.
i understand though that most people want to be able to edit posts mainly to fix typo's or dodgy links etc but for that we do have a preview function so you can check it before it's posted.
don't forget this is a public forum that anyone can read so if you don't want people to read it then don't post it - as opposed to posting it, and then editing it at a later date.
a lot of forums i visit have the edit function, i don't think i've ever used it...

The original issue was a problem arose during a migration to new servers some time ago that made permitting edits problematic.
I'm not sure if this is still an issue but we'll discuss. _________________ Darren Griffin |
