I've just joined and downloaded the european camera database. It is only 11k! does this mean there aren't many cameras in Europe (the UK file is 117k), or is there something I'm missing?
Cheers, Colin. |

just for the records we are currently working on the software to release the international databases in all the formats currently offered with the uk one. once this is done we will strive to get our international databases as accurate as the uk ones (it'll take a while though!)

With regard to European Cameras - with Google Earth you can use overlays and if you go to the SCDB website and register you can download an overlay with speed cameras of Europe. This registration is free - I have downloaded once - I do not know if it lets you download regularly without subscription as I have not tried yet. I only played with this last weekend.
Whilst the format of this file (*.kml or *.kmz) is not readable directly by sat nav units the file can be loaded into POIedit and saved in a number of various sat nav formats (not just TT)
I obtain European camera files from as many sources as possible, append them into one large file in PoiEdit and then let PoiEdit look for duplicates. You can then delete the duplicates and you have a camera file that should warn you of most things. I know some of the entries might be old and cameras may not exist in some locations any more. But I prefer to be warned a little too often than not at all and will accept the "false" warnings.
