Hi - anyone help me suss out how i can do this subject? I have a 360 with full v9 Eu mapping pre-installed. Accoring to the handbook it supports routes by using .gpx files - which i assume have to be composed in mapsource or similar?? This wasnt supplied with the unit from sheffieldgps - do i need to buy this package or is there another way?? Please help - need to plan a route through the Pyrenees soon!! |

Mapsource will certainly do the job. Folk in the US have just been able to ask for it (along with a PC-readable version of their maps) and they've been given it. I don't think anyone in Europe has been so lucky, the argument being - 'you don't need it'. In your case, though you do - and I would have thought you had a case for arguing the thing's not fit for purpose if not supplied with the software to make it work.
(But you are certain it has this feature I take it? - I just had a glance at the Garmin web-site and couldn't see a mention of downloadable routes for that model) |

Hi Phil - well i certainly hope it does! I'm basing this on the fact that on page 35 of the handbook it says it supports GPX waypoint files from Mapsource & maps from Mapsource. Sounds like I need to call Garmin....... |

um - I found the manual online ... I *think* I might be the bearer of bad news here. By 'Waypoint' files", I don't think they're including Routes & Tracks, but literally, just Waypoints - which will show up as "Favourites" / Points-of-interest, depending on how you load them. Using those, you can force the unit to go via a single intermediate point, but not a pre-determined detailed route. Of course, you can have the Nuvi calculate the journey in stages and keep selecting the next intermediate point to want to force it to include - but it's long way from what you're hoping it will do
I know the Zumo (motorcycle) models support Routes/Tracks. |
