You should have a look at This Page for spoken alerts, OK they are in ogg format, but they are correctly named to match the PocketGPSWorld database, all you need to do is the simple convertion from ogg to wav.
Another free to use program that supports the conversion to wav format is Audacity - Mike |

Others seem to be having similar issues with 2.4.0.1, which weren't a problem with 2.4.0.0. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

Further to my previous post i have to make a correction; hold my hand up and give my apologies.
I went out this morning and took my Nuvi 610 with me and the Speed Camera warnings i received were the default Nuvi bongs. The associated WAV Speed Camera audio files did not work.
After returning home, i reinstalled the previous beta version of POI Loader v2.4.0.0 and went out again this afternoon. The WAV audio files are now working correctly.
As an aside, i noticed this evening that Garmin have removed the POI Loader beta version 2.4.0.0 from their web site. The only beta version you can now download is v2.4.0.1.
If you have a copy of v2.4.0.0, i suggest you hang on to it. |

Me again. Before removing POI Loader beta v2.4.0.1 from my PC, i carried out a quick POI file size comparison with v2.4.0.0. The difference was:
v2.4.0.0 = 12,570 Mb
v2.4.0.1 = 11,239 Mb
The difference of 1,331 Mb between the two file sizes is effectively twice the size of my Speed Camera WAV audio files which have a combined total size of 665 Kb.
I have e-mailed Garmin a bug report on the lack of audio output in version 2.4.0.1. However if they take as long with the next beta release of POI Loader as with the last, our GPS units will be obsolete before the full release becomes available. :D |

Hi,
Does this also work for the consolidated files??
I have followed the instructions, converted files, renamed them, put them in the POI folder along with the .csv's and .bmp's used 2.4.0.0, but am not getting any speech, only standard bongs.
I have a Nuvi 310.
Any help appreciated.

Have you re-named the files to exactly match the .bmp and .csv files? - also check that you haven't got a .wav.wav (double file extension) at the end of the file name, this often happens with re-naming files.
To check this open the folder the files are stored in using Windows Explorer, then go to Tools/ Folder Options select the view tab and make sure:
Show hidden files and folders IS SELECTED
Hide extensions for known file types IS NOT SELECTED
With the settings altered re-check the actual file names of the wav files you are trying to use - Mike |

Hi all, I was going to post a new topic and then read this one, regarding the new poi loader which I have now installed along with the new speedcams and garmin poi`s, but having transferred everything to the nuvi and used it on a journey all I`m getting is the " bongs " again. Eveything in the folder is ok, wav files etc. Is there a problem and should I revert back to the previous one which I have saved ..
Thanks....Dil |

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Working now! Appears that when I installed the 2.4.0.0 it did not overwrite the poi loader already on the computer.
I looked in 'add/remove programs' and discovered that two versions of poi loader were still installed.
Strange!!!

Because 2.4.0.0 was a beta version, Garmin correctly install it to allow you to uninstall it, without uninstalling the original version (keeping all your settings when you install the next released version). In fact, with MapSource betas, they even install them into a separate directory to allow you to run both versions if you need to. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

Can someone please tell me why I no longer get the female voice / wav files
since installing the new poiloader? Since thats been on all I get now is the "bongs" again. Wav files are still there in my file for speedcams.
Cheers....Dil |

The most likely reason is simply that the WAV functionality of the 2.4.0.0 beta was not carried forward into the released 2.4.1 version... _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

Other than being a Beta, is there anything in the released version of 2.4.0.1 that makes it worth using over the 2.4.0.0 beta version - so that I can continue to get spoken alerts using WAV files? |
