Could someone confirm or otherwise that setting vehicle size for bus, lorry or whatever, will prevent it taking you down small or unsuitable roads. I have a large motorhome and am thinking of buying the Nuvi 660.
Many thanks.

My understanding is that this setting is only used by the unit to calculate time of arrival and does not affect the choice of route. _________________ Garmin i3 gone (sold on eBay)

i was at the OS outdoor show earlier today and was checking the forum at one point ( how sad is that eh )
so i went and asked at the Garmin stand and was told that it will never not take you down a narrow or unsuitable road but you can minimize the risk by use the truck profile and making sure avoid unpaved roads is checked
hope that helps
you have to remember that you are in control of the vehicle at all times and have to use your intuition as to whether or not a road is unsuitable also you must remember that many caravan sites are down narrow lanes _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Can you ask them if they're ever going to do something about the crap reception of the GTM-21? YOu could phrase it better than that of course |

Questions you should ask before buying:
Will you be given the DVD for use on the PC?
Will you be able to plan a route on the PC and transfer it to the unit?
Will you be able to view your tracks on the PC?
How many vias can you insert into a route? |
