Wiring a GPSLIM 236 unit to a switch power supply in the car

Hi all,

I am thinking of buying the 236 Blue Tooth GPS receiver and would love to be able to peminantly connect it to a switched power supply. This way I could leave it in the car and not worry about it running out of juice.

It's the adaptor that I need info on.

adapter for what?
you get a charger with it. I took the battery out, left it switched on and wired it up to a switched live so that it comes on with the ignition

You could use a cigarette to USB "A" adaptor with a USB "A" to "B" cable which you can get from most electronics shops.

Bear in mind that you may have troubles with a long time to first fix if the GPS unit loses it's almanac data. Certainly my Holux does if I remove the battery or run it completely flat...
