OK this may probably be the wrong place to post this. If it is please advise the correct location.
I have just bought a 910 and am trying to not pull my hair out in getting to understand the thing. For instance there are a lot of POIs on the drive. I can see them when I open the directory on my desk top. Unfortunately I can not see them on the 910 and it refuses to acknowledge them. I have downloaded one POI and the file looks exactly like the Pocket GPS Camera files but it won't show. What am I doing wrong? _________________ Regards,

Yes I had hair when I bought my 910. The word is that you can only have 100 pois max, after that it randomly takes them off your screen. I found the poi file( that's the big one that comes with the unit) and put temp in front of the file name so that it wouldn't see it. That shortened the list. Next pick the ones you want to install and move them from your pc to the 910. But make a backup copy of the drive, just incase. I just copied the whole thing to a dvd |

The limit is 100 Custom POI files, the inbuilt POI that are supplied with the device do not count towards this total of 100.
In order to display the POI on the unit go to Change Preferences/ Enable_Disable POI and select the check box for the POI's you want displayed.
For Speed Camera warnings use the database from this site then you can configure the device to warn of an approaching camera at a user defined distance and using true spoken alerts - please have a read through This for setting up POI warnings on the 910 - Mike |

Thanks for the assistance but unfortunately it still isn't working. The POI I transferred are your POI files Mike. I can see the files on the 910 when I open the drive via my desk top. I can also see a whole bunch of Tomtom speed camera files which, like your ones don't show up when I look for them on the 910. The Pocket GPS camera files are all there and have text to speech set up on them. They only work when I am navigating to somewhere. I have all of the categories like "beach", cash dispensers" etc but I only have car parks, petrol stations and speed cameras enabled.
I am also having a wonderful time with the Tom tom RDS-TMC which as you probably know has a meaningless two line instruction "manual". I have now got it to recognize Classic FM but so far it has not passed any info to me. I wonder if it's working?
I have now given up on trying to contact Tomtom as this is a waste of time! _________________ Regards,

Un-tick Warn only if POI is on Route.;) _________________ Richard

Please have a read through #9 on This Page as it details the RDS TMC unit and what it should do, you might be experiancing poor reception depending upon where you are located in the country.
On the same page I linked to above are some instructions for removing the TomTom cameras from the device, this is up to you have a read through #13 while you are on the page - Mike |
