Hi,
I've just bought a nuvi 350, and used it during a trip from South Wales to East Anglia.
During the trip, the unit emitted a variety of warning bells when encountering speed cameras. (Garmin data only)
Can anyone tell me what the unit is actually warning me of? Is it the presence of a camera, that I'm exceeding the limit or what? What do teh different sounds mean
I'm confused, and I can't find an explanation anywhere.
Thanks in advance

Although I don't use the Garmin database, there are two distinct warning sounds, one for an approaching speed camera, and a separate one to indicate you are over the speed of the camera.
The display should also change: the first should give a "30mph Speed Limit Ahead" whereas the second would say "Speed Limit 30mph". _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

Thanks - I thought that might be what was going on, but driving on an unfamiliar route wasn't the time to be taking notes.
I did notice some changes to the warning banner, but didn't make the correlation.
I shall experiment near my local cameras and make sure I understand....
Thanks again,

On my 660, I get 2 dings to say speed camera/zone change ahead, and a single ding if it thinks I'm going too fast.
Either case the top banner goes red to show I'm in a camera zone.

Do you guys mean traffic cams?
How is the device able to recognize the location of cams and their speed restrictions? Are they added as POI or something? |

yes, they can be added to most sat-navs as custom POI's. if you subscribe to the site here you can get regular updates from either £2 for a month's access or £19 for a year: http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras
