|
|
Hi, i've download the service pack v2.3 for my F20, straight to my laptop (windows XP SP2). If i connect the F20 to the USB it starts charging ok, if i turn on the F20 the screen goes to a USB connection screen. My laptop looks for drivers (which it can't find) and when i start the already installed Service Pack installer it simply says it can't find device.
I've tried two different computers, two different leads but still the same.
I've turned off both my anti-virus and firewall but still the same. Can anyone help me please?!
Do i need the connectivity kit? It says on the website all i need is the USB cable.
Does the new firmware make any difference?
cheers John |

I can't tell you anything about the new functionality, but have you contacted Navman support on 01293 780500. _________________ Tim |

Hi As you will have seen from Navman's web site, the following is a summary of the download.
Quote: | Service Pack Summary (SP1 for F20)
This service pack provides the following improvements, fixes and changes:
Communications enhancements
Error message enhancements
Battery display fix
Minor bug fixes
Start-up error fix |
It is a 7.9Mb file which can be downloaded to your computer or direct to the Device - so far as I can see. I presume that when you run the file to your computer, it then give instructions for updating your F20
Have you followed those....sorry I'm just thinking out loud. _________________ Gee-Pee

There was no instructions! Double clicked on the installer icon on my PC and it just gives an error message saying can not connect to device, not very help full! In the end it was a driver problem. |

I've a feeling you need "Microsoft Activesync" to enable your PC to communicate with the F20.
I have a 530 which I used to connect to with Active Sync as the medium.
I've now got an F20 as well (so that I can get TMC here in the Netherlands).
I've held back from doing the update for the F20 - it's working OK for me so I'm reluctant (from experience) to mess with something seems to work fine unless there's a major benefit. Also, I've been watching for feedback from anyone who has gone ahead with the update |

I have activeSync already, latest 4.5 version too. Once driver installed i had no problems, didn't even need to reset PC either. In 30 seconds it was done, did girlfriend's F20 without any problems either. It doesn't seem to wipe any of your own data, which is a bonus. Can't say i've seen any difference in operation but i hadn't used it properly anyway, maybe someone else can comment on this. |
