Hi all,
I have just purchased a TT 1. I was given your site details by a taxi driver who highly recommended the site for safety camera updates etc.
Can anyone tell me what the difference is with downloading safety camera database and updates from PGPS or TomTom? Both sites are subscription, yours being £2 per month and TomTom £20 per year. Obviously TT want TT owners to go to them!, yet with my new purchase it came with 'FREE safety Cameras....and guess what....after validating the promotion code...the site was not available to update my TT! Good start .
Any advice much appreciated.

The PGPSW Database is either £2 a month or £19 for a full year. New databases are released on average twice a month, occasionally three times a month and have been shown to be both more up to date and more accurate.
For the sake of £2 you could give it a try yourself (after the month is up you still get to use the database(s) you downloaded but obviously they won't get updated ;)) or just have a search around the forums for other people's opinions.

Tom Tom won't let you update until AFTER you've paid their annual subscription. It wouldn't take a lengthy search to discover a bunch of folk who regretted doing so. Like MaFt says, for the price of a pint (up North, or half a pint down South!!) you can get a month's worth of downloads from here - better coverage, more flexible warnings and distances - there's just no comparison. Thank you everyone. After having a little snoop around, it seems everyone has had a problem with TT at some stage or another with regard to downloads.
I am about to subscribe.
Cheers everyone. |
