Hi I have rechecked my installation and as far as I can see everything is OK but I am still getting the normal sounds from Tomtom. Even though when I play the .ogg files through a player I do get the correct sounds. |

There is a data.chk file for your version located on This Page download and install that, then configure your warnings to use the spoken alerts, I am not too sure if the ogg file method is supported on the Palm platform - Mike |

I have renamed sounds from my old checkpoint so they are exactly as instructed eg pocketsgps_uk_gatso_20.ogg
All installed in the gb map folder next to the corrisponding bmp & ov2 files, when setting up sound warnings I was not asked to choose a sound so presumed all was ok, untill I went out today and got big bells and ding dongs screaming at me when going past camera's.
Any ideas where I've gone wrong |

Have you also got another type of speed camera download installed? - have a look for files ending with the file extension .ov2 count them up and how many have you got?
If you find:
pocket_gps_uk_gatso.ov2
pocket_gps_uk_mobile.ov2
pocket_gps_uk_specs.ov2
along with all the speed zoned files that you installed, simply delete those three listed above and try it again - Mike |

Thanks for that, is it worth me removing the tomtom speed cams aswell seeing as most of them seem to be wrong anyway? |

It wouldn't go a miss as these to could be causing bongs etc - copy them to your PC BEFORE deleting them though, just incase you ever want them back on the device - Mike |

What you may be experiencing is the TT files sounding in conjunction with the PocketGPS files, so effectively you have a conflict with two files at the same location.
So yes, as previously suggested, remove the TT files (as suggested) then hopefully that should resolve the problem.

Yes, again this is quite normal, as it "should" play the file that you inserted automatically. _________________ (If it ain't broke, I can soon fix it) |

I have a curiousity question - Why would you choose anything other than "only warn if on route"? Why would you want to be warned of something not on your route? |
Hi
If you select "only warn if on route" and do not have a route planned the camera alarms etc will NOT sound as it is not on your route -just where you happen to be. Route refers to your PLANNED destination as far as the TT is concerned. I ,for one, never choose this option |

Also, don't forget that when TT were designing the machine, they were not thinking about speed cameras specifically, just any POIs.
You might well want to be warned of a "free money handout" POI that was just off your route! |

To be honest I only have one suggestion left on this one as follows:
Dock the device to the PC perform a full back-up.
Then delete any file that has an extension of ov2 from the device (these will be located in your map folder).
Download and install a fresh set of speed zoned camera files.
Configure each of the warnings (Change preferences/ Manage POI/ Warn When Near POI)
Try it again, if the new install is the only POI you have loaded to the device using the ov2 file extension you shouldn't get any other warnings.
Please Backup the device before doing this, if you delete the wrong file you could cause further damage, at least with a back-up in place you can recover the situation - please have a read through This for important information regarding backing the device up - Mike |

Done that and its still bloomin bonging, gonna try the data.chk file download see if that works, do I remove the original data.chk file first or just rename it (e.g. originaldata.chk) before installing the new one. |

Never delete a file you never know when you might need it back again, simply re-name the original (as you suggested) then try the data.chk method, in order for the device to use the data.chk file sounds you will have to first remove the ogg files from the map folder.
One other question though, how many map folders have you got on the device? - I have seen it before where multiple map folders cause confusion - normally following a map upgrade - Mike |
