|
|
Since early 2006 I have been using a WM5 Dell Axim X51v and TTN 5.22 (GB). I also purhcased a USA map at the time.
When I originally installed the USA map it installed to SD card (the same SD card I copied my TTN data to).
I have just flashed my device and reinstalled and re-activated TomTom (I reinstalled TTN from my SD card and NOT the original TT SD).
When I started TomTom for the first time after this, it automatically saw my USA map on the SD card (from the original install) and allowed me to switch to it. It seems to work fine and I can plot demo routes on it etc., but I am not in the USA to test it for real at present.
Will the map work without problems as it was previously installed to the SD card using the installer, and I can switch to it within TomTom, or do I need to re-install/activate the USA map using the original installer?
Thank you |

If you can view the map detail on the device then it is working, the map activation will be OK as you have only put the software back on the same device it was previously activated on. - Mike |

Thanks for that.
So what did the map installer actually do when I originally installed it? Did it just unpack it and dump it on the SD card? |

After the installer "dumped" the map on the SD card you must have activated it, this effectively locks the map to the hardware, as you didn't change device the map will simply work as it is loaded to the device it was originally installed on - Mike |
