Any ideas would be welcome. | Have you had a read through THIS Page? and can you identify where in the guide it fails to work.
I use the Text To Speech spoken warnings on my 910, but I have tried using the ogg file method and it does work.
You are trying to set this up using the Speed Camera database from this site and not with the TomTom offering are you? - Mike |

Quote: | I don't have "hide known file extensions" ticked. |
Actually when you rename the files "it is better to have known file extensions hidden"
That way there there is no chance of altering the extension.
If you have placed them in the correct folder, then I would suspect that you are not re-naming them properly.
Or you have changed the extension (which you should not do). _________________ (If it ain't broke, I can soon fix it) |

I would always recommend the Hide extensions to be un-checked as people often add the .ogg extension to the file name which results in something like pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.ogg.ogg and this simply doesn't work, if the files are named this way the device will not pick them up.
On the 910 if you are using the TTS engine to generate the warnings why do you need the ogg files? - they do work though.
Since you installed the ogg files have you been to change preferences/ manage POI/ Warn When Near POI and selected each Pocket GPS camera in turn and re-configured each warning?
You must do this even if the warnings were pre-configured it is the action of re-selecting the warning that forces the software to use the ogg file, when you get to the screen that offers
"Full spoken warning....."
"Brief spoken warning......"
"Sound effect"
"Type in your own warning"
Select Sound effect and see what hapens - for the benefit of others PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS FOR A Go-910 - Mike |

Totally agree, but the confusion set in waaay back. Let it be. |
I always have extensions visible by default. Its an old habbit of mine, from 15 years as a software engineer.
Also, I can see anything dodgy trying to pass off as something else. EG: myTextFile.txt.exe
Altho my visrus scanner would pick it up, its still and extra level of security |

Anyway, back on topic,
I still can't get those .oggs to work. But as mikealder said, I might as well just use the TTS on the 910 instead |

|
|
Hi
A few months ago I downloaded from one of the linked sites referred to from the forum the ogg files for my Tom Tom GO and find they are great compared to the old standard Tom Tom supplied sounds.
Does anyone however have the following files for the 20mph zones:-
pocketgps-uk-mobile-20.ogg
pocketgps-uk-gatso-20.ogg
and in the unlikely event of being required
pocketgps-uk-specs-20.ogg
Thanks in advance if you can help.

The 5344 version you mention is supported, if you have installed this corectly when you go to configure the warnings use the "Test" button to listen to the actual sound, it might say Bell 1 in the text but it might not sound like a bell - Mike |
