Phoning Garmin.
Swing and others here may remember my problems with a replacement Garmin TMC unit in November.
Garmin were out of stock so I've still never received the replacement unit.
December 16th I ordered mu V9 mapping update Disc that has still not arrived.
Since the 4the of January I called Garmin on any number I could find every working day, often leaving the speaker phone on as the Garmin lady kept telling me how important my call was!
Yesterday I got an answer at long last, details about the TMS seem to have gone but they are sending me a new one!
V9 update discs have been part of some postal **** up and I was told I will have it any day as they were going to post a few days ago!
Any one else had these problems? |

My update disk took quite a while to arrive, but having heard from others that they were busy / out of stock for a while, I paid no attention to how long it actually took to arrive. |

It's my quiet time of the year work wise, but we get busy in march and then I hit the roads.
I love the Nuvi and our I3's and I think I've been very reasonable over the TMC problems.
But I can't see how a company can run a phone system like Garmin's.
When I questioned what had happened with the replacement GTM unit I got a rather wooly headed response and eventualy after being left on a very quiet "hold" I'm told it will be on the way today and then that the mapping updates went to post last Friday but nothing has arrived today ! |

It's possible the Disks are handled by a third party company, and all Garmin do is to send them the list of addresses to send the disk to - although mine came in an envelope with Garmin's name on it, it did not have the same style of address label as you get when Garmin send you something directly, so it is possible it's put through a fulfilment company. |

Hi M8s
I've asked the local reseller in my home country as my disk, ordered the 28th of December 2006 did not arrive till now and Garmin (through myGarmin) did not answer emails concerning my questions about it.
They (the local reseller) told me that they have big shipping problems and it'll hopefully be arriving here till end of March. I hope that's not how long it will take!
They said the disks have not been shipped to Europe at all?! I thought that I've read that some M8s have received a disk.
BTW: It's all about the NT version, which Garmin calls like this: City Navigator Europe NT v9 Deluxe Unlock, about what I'm talking. According to the thread title about StreetPilot and nüvi, this will be the same, as those use the NT version as well, I quess.

I may be wrong but I think the Garmin guy said that the postal proplem was due to a problem with Royal Mail who were handling the postal contract
I could call him back and clarify but I may not get anyone to answer until early March |

Hi all,
Like all of you I ordered my V9 map disc back in December and reminded them mid Jan but no joy. I rang them again last week as I had to get an RMA to return my Nuvi 360 which locked up whilst I was using Web Updater!
They must have taken pity on me as next day when I got home from work the V9 disc had arrived so they must have them in stock in the UK. Shame I can't use it though!
I went out and bought a 660 which has V9 maps on in any case.
Strangely enough too - but last three times I've rung Garmin I've got my toast, mugs of coffee and blanket ready for expected long call times but I've got through within seconds! Must be the the time of day you ring them. _________________ TomTom 740 Go Live |
